6k vs. 2k

I am training 6 days a week and dont have time to do a 2k test outside of my normal training routine. I was wondering what I am capable of on a 2k if I have a 22:23 6k time? Is there a standard for how much my average split should or could change?

Well, if your more of an endurance erger, than I think low 7:00s is possible. If your more of a powerhouse/sprinter, than mid 6:50s I guess. My sophomore year I got a 22:52 and at the end of the fall season I pulled a 7:00.1. Again, it depends on your build.

Make sure you warm-up well. Having the rate for your 1:51.9 6k would help a bit, but I can make a good guess.

Suggest a 2k Time trial plan like this.
500m quarters
Target paces: 1:46, 1:45, 1:44, 1:43, at 150m to go, empty the tank.

If at any 500m transition you feel you can not bump the pace, hold it instead.

7 to 9 seconds off of 6k pace is the general range, so the plan is on the conservative side, but that leaves room for a sprint at the end, if you are accelerating the pace for the entire final 150m, you can plan for the next step on the next 2k.
