So many blisters...

Post by Liquid » August 7th, 2007, 1:55 pm

Been rowing for months without a problem. One day I accidentally got some moisturizing cream on my hand (I don't use the stuff, was tidying up) and rowed shortly after that. Developed a nasty blister on that spot so I switched to gloves. The sports store didn't have paddling gloves so I used water skiing gloves, ended up with six new blisters after my first session with them. Now it is back under control except for a blister in a new location on the inside base of my thumb. Annoying.

Any gloves someone would recommend that work better?

Skip the gloves. Since you rowed for months w/out a problem, just do what your hands will tolerate until you can get the blisters healed up. Don't squeeze the handle too tightly, and try not to change your grip to compensate for the blisters.

I agree with MomofJBN...no gloves (a bandaid or sport tape over the blister while erging or rowing until it heals)

   LOL Paul
All this time I thought those were apres-erg!

I started to get caluses, and switched to cycling gloves. As rowing is my secondary sport, International pistol shooitng is my primary sport and hand and grip feel are important, I didn't want to adversely affect my shooting. The cycling gloves have now made it a non issue.
