Is exercising at max heartrate dangerous?

I rowed my best ever 2k yesterday. 6:47.6 :D (splitt 1:42,7 1:42,3 1:41,7 1:40,9 ) . I have tested my heartrate earlier on the rower and it’s around 191. The last 500m of the 2k was constant at 190 or more. I wonder, or to be honest my wife wonder if it's is dangerous to exercise at that intensity level? I don’t felt any specific heart pain, I was just very exhausted.

Anyway I aimed at 6:50, and my plan was something like 1:43, 1:43 1:42 >1:42. I’m a happy man today and my body is nicely recovered.

Sorry if this question is very common. I have tried to search this forum.
I’m 35.

It is my view that predicting whether max. heart rate efforts are dangerous is something that is best decided by someone who knows the athlete's physiological history quite well and is well trained in the field.

Reading the text of your question: We, online, know very little about you, your genetic background (heart problems?), and your ability to
take stress.

Your fine effort indicates that you can take stress => you didn't fade during your 2K piece and it was fast.

To what heartrate does your pulse settle down to once you complete a piece like this? How long does it take for you to reach this lower plateau during recovery after a 2K piece?

If your pulse stays very high for a long time after a max effort, my understanding is that you are stressing your system more than you may want. (Google "Fritz Hagerman" of Ohio University)

What is your time/pace for a 10K or a 60 min. row?
-What I'm alluding to is: Are you both aerobically strong and well trained?
Those who push themselves too hard before getting a strong aerobic base are "asking for it." My guess is that you know that already.

Sometimes, when trying to assure loved ones, it may be advisable to get a stress test and/or have phiological testing done by experts. From personal experience, those who are trying to perform at their highest capacity do well to remove all anxieties for themselves and their "nearest and dearest" supporting friends and family.

How did you test you maxHR?
Was it a step test until failure?

If you're only working like that for 1min 40 then you're not going to do lasting damage, it's the aim of most of us to row the last 500 of a 2K absolutely flat out. Some folks make an art form of collapsing on to the floor after taking their last stroke. [I don't have the courage to go that hard.]

I'm 44, my maxHR (at the end of the last 3K race I rowed) was 191.

Thanks all.
Actually I forget to monitor how fast I was going down. I guess I was busy drinking water and using a towel. But i remember it was higher then normal at start of my cooldown row. In the end it was quit normal.
My best 10K is a fourteen old days 37:48.9. My best low pull is only 1:28. It means that I am very close to the Enduro King in this thread at the UK forum, with my 155% if i calculate correctly.
My test on was on the rower, when I slowly increased power. To years ago I tested 193 in the same test.
