I am i highschool junior and my pb for a 2k is 7:13.5. I just started using a heart rate monitor for training. I was wondering should i get my heart rate pretty close to where is is during a 2k or should i start out lower so that i have more time at a lower heart rating. The max heart rate i have seen was a 207 on a 6k dont know if that is any help.

Spike,
Not sure I fully understand what you are asking. If you are asking if you should get your HR close to 207 in training, the answer is no. You can not expect to train that hard every session. Depending on the goal of your session, your HR should be anywhere from 60 - 85% of your HRR (Heart Rate Reserve). For intervals your HR may go higher than 85% depending on the length of the work piece. Do you have a rowing coach that you can consult with? Sounds like you may need advice on how to structure your training.

After your warm up. Just waith 5/7 minutes.
Don't pay attention to your hartrate. It doesn,t mean anything on forehand.
