Hi everyone
Last winter i really measured the intensity of my workouts with a heart rate monitor. but since then, my heart rate monitor broke and i also came away feeling that that method wasnt good because a) i have a higher than usual heart rate and b) my body temperature just drives the HR insane by the end of the workout.
So what i wanted was a good system where i can just add seconds to my 2k split to get the target zone without use of all the heart rate stuff.
I use the CAT I, CAT II, CAT III, CAT IV, CAT V, CAT VI system.
Can somone help me out with giving splits for earch zone?
Thanks.

Re: Heart Rates and Splits
See the Wolverine plan, or if you can deal with reasonable levels of monotony, the STM (Stop the Madness) Plan. Both are Pace based approaches with a track record behind them. Near as I can tell, both accept that your heart will keep beating as needed, and if it doesn't, then there is much more to be concerned about.csabour wrote:Hi everyone

The Wolverine Plan is infintely more exciting, but I can't handle that much excitement, afterall that's why I like rowing.

Fencing, now that's another matter altogether. (Excitement is the point.)

That should spark this thread up a bit.

The canadian training intensities are generally based off of 6k or 20' splits as opposed to 2k splits. As a rough estimate, take the average splits from your 2k and add 7 seconds to obtain your 6k score (or just pull a quick 6k).
Cat VI is 6k + 12-16
Cat V is 6k + 8-12
Cat IV is 6k to 6k + 2
Cat III is 6k - 2-5
Cat II is 6k - 7
Cat I is 6k - 15
Remember that these are all ranges, a little quicker (particularly on Cat III work) or a little slower (particularly on long Cat IV pieces) isn't the end of the world.
