17 YEARS OLD, MALE
178CM
APPROX. 60 KG(59.BLAH... KG)
HAVE BEEN AN AVID RUNNER
=> NOW A RUNNER-TURNED-ROWER SINCE THIS MAY
==> TRAINING SO FAR MOSTLY HAVE BEEN CONCENTRATED ON IMPROVING THE ANAEROBIC THRESHOLD AND THE FORMAT HAS BEEN AN INTERVAL ONE(10x3 min = min pace 2:01/500m)
===> HAVE TRIED LONGER DURATION WORKOUTS, HOWEVER COULD NOT RAISE THE INTENSITY AS I WANTED TO OR GET MUCH SATISFACTION(A PHYSICAL SENSE OR FEELING OF HAVING BEEN CHALLENGED) OUT OF THE WORKOUT
====> TRIED ROWING LAST YEAR, AND MY PACE WAS 2:30 OF WHICH I THINK AN IMPROPER TECHNIQUE AND LACK OF ENTHUSIASM ACCOUNTS FOR A GREAT DEAL.
CURRENT PB IN 500M IS 1:54.5
=====>TRAIN 3/4 TIMES A WEEK: USUALLY ONE DAY TRAINING FOLLOWED BY A RECOVERY/REST DAY.
ANY ADVICE ON HOW TO FURTHER IMPROVE MY 2K TIME AND DEVELOP SPEED OR ENHANCE MY ANAEROBIC THRESHOLD WILL BE MUCH APPRECIATED. Thank you.
TRAINING ADVICE SOUGHT FOR A TEENAGER
Firstly, get yourself some more advice on technique, best place for this in my opinion would be a water rowing club. Secondly, the best way to achieve the goals you have stated is to do that long, slow distance stuff, we all know it's not all that much fun, but grinding out the 40-80 min sessions at 18-20 spm is the best way to improve overall fitness and bring down your 2k time, i would dedicate at least 1 or 2 of your 3/4 sessions a week to this, believe me, there arent many more physically challenging sessions than a 30min pb attempt
