Training for fall season...

Post by Elamonta » June 20th, 2006, 7:39 pm

I am still a first year collegiate rower...fall season will be my second "rowing semester"...anyways I know that in the fall the races are much longer...so my quick question would be....Would it be more beneficial for me to work on developing my aerobic base and endurance over my 2k time...I am already leaning towards endurance and rowing longer pieces 5k, 10k etc...any help with what i should aim towards would be greatly appreciated!!!

Im in the same situation as you, and from what ive heard, its good to just do longer lower intensity work. Ive been doing most of my work in the single to work on my boat feel and technique. I dont even plan to do any erg work under 10 k meters for a while. Good luck with the training

I would suggest a complete plan is the best approach. A good mix of mostly distance with just a little speed work once a week will help you keep making progress.

If your coaches haven't given you offseason training plans the the STM plan from PaulS is a great basic training that would really get you ready for fall season (in two months).
