I'm making this topic for everyone to share the most difficult workout they've ever done on the erg.

For me, its 8x2min r40 1 minute active rest.

Is anybody here familiar with the concept of a 'minutes' workout? It's where we row flat out with the drag on 10 for a whole minute (rate must stay above 30) then rest for one minute and repeat 10 times. We often have guys at the club throwing up after this.

Any 2K test should be hard.
Then an all out 30 minute at 20SPM is another hard one.
Closely followed by a sub 3hrs marathon.
Closely followed by a 20SPM half marathon.

10x1500m with 1min rest @ 10k pace was quite hard. Any all out 2k, 5k, 30mins, 10k, 60mins, HM etc PB attempt is pretty hard asswell.

I much prefer plodding along @ 20spm :P .

Every 2k race :?

and
Long time ago I did

3 x (8 min p.)

3 x 400 (1min pause). pace around 1k pace (1.29ish)

was quit hard.
During my track and field dat I ones really fainted and my trainingmate was trowing up :D . Intervall/sprinttraining for 400m. That was too hard. it took days to recover a bit.

Rugby test two years ago, below my 2K pace at that time.

1000m 3:20,1 (1:40)
750m 2:31,7 (1:41,1)
500m 1:40,6
250m 49,2 (1:38,4)
750m 2:33,9 (1:42,6) lactic acid death

Won't try one again in the near future, I rather do a hard 10K than this session.

I would have to agree that a 2K test is the most brutal. I have failed 2 out of 4 that I have attempted since starting to erg. Blowing up at 1500M is the most pain/discomfort I have experienced in any sporting event. Oh, except for the Pikes Peak Marathon.

By order of extenuation:
- Dressing up my 3 kids in the morning (or trying to get them dressed up by their own)
- Last year's erg marathon, can't remember how I returned home.
- 6 min Erg test with te "Ginseng"-monster  (or whatever it was called)
- On one of my first 10 k running races I got confused and thought the "1km toARRIVAL" gate was the arrival, and sprinted accordingly , the last 1000 m were deadly!
- 8*500 on the stroke of a coxless four

2k erg test in a selection camp when the head coach cranked our df up to 10, just seconds before the start. Fun times.

You asked about workouts and that wouldn't include racing or time trials, right?

My hardest workout is a 2k, 2x1k, 4x500m done with 2 minute active rest between each interval.

If we're talking only workouts then I'de say 14X 30s on 30s off at maximal effort.

But I would have to agree with Ancho that getting my 4 year and 2 year old dress comes close.
