recovery/easy row pace?

Post by Lisa Simpson » March 28th, 2006, 6:07 pm

Is there a rule of thumb for pacing of longer, easy day rows--like 2K pace + x?

Thanks!

I usually do them using HR. Stick to UT2. I did last night's recovery row at 140HR average.

Sure, but you have to specify the distance you want to do for recovery.

Here are a few that will likely fit the bill:
4k @ 2k+10
6k @ 2k+12.5
8k @ 2k+15
I don't recommend recovery days longer than 8k, or work days for that matter, but there are some whacky folks that seem to like that sort of thing. B)
10k @ 2k+16.25
12k @ 2k+17.5

If your 6k was a PB (or a hard effort), this will be far too much to expect for a 2k, I would suggest 6k-8.

My 6K is pace my moderately comfortable junk meter time. In fact, my 6K pace is almost identical to my 12K pace, if that gives you any indication of how slack my workouts are. The 2K test is an initial step toward more thoughtful workouts, with pace appropriate to distance.
