How critical is it that the Concept 2 be exactly level?
I have my C2 sitting in my garage facing the exterior door. The floor slopes downward towards the exterior door as in most garages. I hadn't noticed this using it. I began thinking about the slope in the floor so I put a level on the seat rail and it's definitely not level. When I get off the seat, it immediately rolls forward until stopping at the foot straps. If I'm thinking correctly, I'm pulling the chain up a slope every time I row unless there's a self adjustment mechanism in the connecting point between the two pieces. Should I use my level to raise the front end to level or let it be?
Hopefully, this is not a ridiculous question.
Thanks
John

That is how a C2 should behave. And the rail isn't level by design, otherwise you'd have to pull yourself in again.milansanremo wrote: ↑February 3rd, 2025, 11:52 pmI began thinking about the slope in the floor so I put a level on the seat rail and it's definitely not level. As JaapvanE states there is a slight decline in the monorail, but if you're also on another slight decline, I'm guessing that the only issue is that you're having to work slightly harder with each stroke.
If that's good or bad is a subjective decision, but it should make you better if you ever row on a more horizontal position

When afloat, the rail slope is the least of our problems, indeed it helps.

Thanks guys.... I won't worry about it anymore. I did experiment before I got your response and put a 2x4 under the front end...(I don't think?) I saw a noticable difference in performance.Dangerscouse wrote: ↑February 4th, 2025, 5:45 amAs JaapvanE states there is a slight decline in the monorail, but if you're also on another slight decline, I'm guessing that the only issue is that you're having to work slightly harder with each stroke.

I’ve had the same concern and tested it both ways using HR and wattage. The difference was negligible and could easily be attributed to other factors. That said, I keep the flywheel at the bottom of the slope so the drive is technically harder so no one can ever accuse me of cheating

For me personally the erg being level is 100% critical!
But this is just or my mental resilience and not my erg performance.
If there is doubt the erg is level, it is all i think about...
