Starting over AGAIN - every day OK?
Been checked out with EKG so started today from ground 0. Heavy breathing (couldn't hold a conversation) after 6 minutes at 20-22 SPM so cooled down with a 3 minute paddle. Opinions, please - OK to erg daily gradually increasing time incrementally as I build an aerobic base? My goal is 30-40 minutes every other day. Thank you in advance.

I think that's fine, as long as you keep it all under control. The chosen intensity is the only thing that could make it a problem imo.

Personally I cannot maintain 20SPM of reasonable strokes and hold a conversation despite >3mm since I restarted. Try lowering I would lower it to 16-18 for the moment so that you can manage a bit longer and build from there.

Congrats on starting over at 79 and I love your signature tag line. Since you have your Doc’s ok, I think whatever you feel comfortable with should be fine. Curious if he or she provided you any guidelines like managing heart rate etc…? I would say let your recovery be your guide with one or two days rest built into your week. Just be careful to make sure your pace and distance don’t become too taxing as to take the joy out of repeating your routine as consistency is the key. Good luck!

I'd say the most important factor is your stroke: via style, keep it as long and hard as you can and don't sacrifice quality to distance or rating.
I've done 146 WODs since 2024 Jan 01. Usually do 2-3 minutes at 100W plus the first half of the WODs as warmup, the rest to exhaustion.
The controls I use are 1.5W/kg, 6W-min/stroke, 210m/min. So far so good, since 2024 Jan 01: 480km in 2240 minutes, 141 days.

Thank you for your interest. Grateful to be back on “the truth machine”. So far eased up to 15 mins @ 18-20 and with DF at 3 staying under 2:58 splits - slowly but hopefully surely.

I use low DF 90, so I can move fast at low force during the pull.
If damper 3 doesn't let you pull a quick stroke (0.6s as seen in ergdata) at your pull force, use a faster setting. I have a filter over the air inlet, which also keeps the fan clean.
Being all about Power transfer, the key to rowing is impedance: so we set the machine to suit us.
