Calendar Climb Challenge, Jan 2024. Anyone want to join??!!

Post by penkethj » November 7th, 2023, 4:21 pm

Anybody looking for a challenge in the new year??

A couple of us from the forum are going to attempt a Calendar Climb Challenge (will explain in a sec) in January and were wondering if anyone else fancied giving it a go.

The concept of the challenge is really simple. You row 1000m for the corresponding day of the month. So;

1st 1000m
2nd 2000m
3rd 3000m

All the way through to

29th 29,000m
30th 30,000m
31st 31,000m

Now this is a concept I have stolen from running. The rules simply state that you cover the required distance on the correct day. There is no rule saying you have to cover it all in one piece. For example it’s absolutely fine on the 21st to do 3 x 7000m efforts throughout the day.
Obviously you can do them all in one daily piece if you were feeling sadistic enough!! Lol

Total metres rowed over the challenge will be 496,000m. Again the distances each day are just a minimum. You are more than welcome to do more if you so wish (I know I won’t be!!).

I know there are already two concept2 challenges in January. But doing this will actually work well towards them.
The individual challenge in January requires either rowing a certain amount of days/hours/calories. Doing our challenge will pretty much cover that off. Lol

There is also a team challenge to put in as many metres as you can. As I say you’d have at least 496,000m towards your team challenge from doing this.

Would be great to get some more people on board. Can use this thread as a way of sharing how we are getting on and making it a bit of fun.

Finally I know February would have been easier. But 1) I can’t do February due to other commitments, 2) Who wants a challenge to be easier?? Haha

best of luck with it - but at my current volume the 100k holiday challenge will be more than enough meters in a month for me!

It's tempting, but I definitely can't do two days due to work commitments, so 24k and 25k would be wiped out.

I will do some of the longer distances on the correct days as and when it's possible, but I can't do all of them. Best of luck with it.
