My path to 1 Million Meters / year

This is probably pretty pedestrian to many of you, but it's motivated me and maybe someone else will find it interesting...
Having become a C2 erg owner during the pandemic, I was pleased to sport my new Million Mile Club tee shirt this fall. It took me the better part of two years to accomplish. So, anticipating the holiday threat to my rather average fitness routine (decent for a 64-year-old, but not remarkable by any means), I established a goal at Thanksgiving time to row another 1 million meters in one year - 365 days or less.
I'm proud to say that at day 82 I'm still on track - having rowed over 230K.
Being prone to laziness and procrastination, I created a spreadsheet and graph to track my goal and be a little more accountable to myself.

(I know that Logbook tracks everything, but manually entering data further stimulates a sense of accomplishment)
1 million miles = an average of 2,740 meters/day (not that big a deal -- but I don't row every day).
The Goal is the accumulation of 2,740 meters per day
The Blue area is the path to achieving the 1 million meter goal
The Red area is my actual rowed meters - trying to stay up with the incremental goal.
All the best. Hope that you are achieving whatever goals you pursue.

That's cool, it doesnt matter what regime you follow, or what your targets are, all that matters is that it suits you and that you get something form it. Was going to say enjoy it but Im not even sure that's necessary!!
Well done on setting yourself a goal and making it happen.

Regardless of the annual metres that some of us do, every single 60 year old, and older, that I know, apart from forum members, don't do any type of exercise other than occasional walking.
Doing any rowing at all is a laudable achievement that can all too easily be diluted when comparing to others. All the best to you and your journey towards two million.

This already applies for most people of my age. Most do not understand that the body needs to be moved/used and fuelled in a good manner to stay healthy. So most people I know, already have muscular problems or other deseases.

Congratulations!
That is a great goal, and some good ways to help motivate yourself.
Good luck with continuing to meet, and maybe beat those goals.

Great goal and congrats on the 1 million meter t-shirt. I still wear mine proudly, though it's a bit tattered at this point.
Breaking the 1 million/year goal down into manageable chunks is wise. Most can readily row 100k/month if you get on 4 days/week. This monthly goal will put you well over and leave you some wiggle room.

Congrats on joining the Million Meter Club and rocking the T-shirt! I am also 64 (Female) and got my 1st million in 1 year, 2nd in 13 months. I am a cyclist and Erg very little when I can bike outside, sometimes rainy days, but live in Michigan and not battling cold, ice or snow! Love having goals though, good luck with yours! Karen
