Eric Murray youtube videos

Post by mitchel674 » December 29th, 2022, 3:27 pm

Anyone looking for some great row along video workouts should consider watching the weekly workouts with Eric Murray. I try to do these live with Eric each Sunday, but the archived workouts are just as much fun. I find these very motivating, and he really mixes up the types of workouts which keeps it interesting. Where else can I row with a gold medalist giving me great tips and encouragement?

This one from last week was a great example. Just 30 minutes of rowing, but he includes a warm-up and cool down along with a rationale for the workout. It's all very low key with just his Concept2 and some plywood for background in his garage in New Zealand.

No thanks. I'm generally self-motivated, but if i do need motivation, it is through competition. Soft competition via the Concept2 log, or hard competition through RowPro.

Having some disconnected figure urge "me" on does nothing for me.

Sorry, Peleton et al. I'm not a fan.

I guess you would never appreciate coaching or advice from a world class athlete?

This has nothing to do with Peloton. A great rower offering tips and advice with an opportunity to workout alongside. Anyone with an eye to improve themselves and their rowing would have an open mind.

I have watched Eric Murray’s videos many times. I find them interesting and informative. I do not row along however. Not sure what that says about my free time. 😂

Never thought about watching those without rowing along! You must have a lot of free time!

Yeah Eric is great, the technical details he provides and the ability to follow his stroke rate make these videos really worthwhile.

I created this thread primarily to recommend these videos as another resource for new rowers. We often have newbies here asking questions about technique, etc...

We typically send people to the excellent Concept2 videos or to Dark Horse videos. I think Eric's videos have a lot to offer as well.

I've never watched one of Eric's videos, but I'd definitely want to hear what he has to say if I was looking for advice, especially as a newbie

When I was new, I watched videos of a guy who rowed with his dogs in the room. He was a big guy as well and I think he was barefoot. Was that Eric?

Could be. He does row barefoot, but I haven't seen any dogs. This the guy?

Found one with lots of animals LOL. It's not in the basement I remember, but it's a newer video. 1k TT. Effortless 2:55.9

A bit more polished now with the plywood background and no animals running around! Did you notice his gold C2 in that old video?

It's great that he does these almost weekly. I enjoy the varied workouts, and it's fun to "row" with one of the greatest. He's got some great advice along the way as well. Great for any level of rower.

I did notice it. I was looking at another thread and ran across this one... it has the gold c2 in the background, plywood, AND a dog.

He gives away a lot of good information, both on technique and training. What I've watched of it in the past, I found very informative.
