Goal: ALL PB!

Post by gilles13006 » August 30th, 2022, 8:17 am

Hi!

I had an idea to have various goals which assure myself an healthy goal and polyvalent trainings.
The idea is to beat all my PB one by one, to begin with the oldest one .

500m 1:36.7 1:36.7 08/04/22
1,000m 4:07.9 2:03.9 30/07/21
2,000m 7:25.4 1:51.3 12/02/22
5,000m 19:41.5 1:58.1 09/01/22
6,000m 26:32.2 2:12.6 30/07/21
10,000m 41:23.8 2:04.1 23/01/22
21,097m 1:30:32.9 2:08.7 18/04/22
1:00.0 311m 1:36.4 25/07/21
4:00.0 814m 1:53.3 06/08/21
30:00.0 7,132m 2:06.1 01/09/21
1:00:00.0 11,171m 2:09.4 22/07/21

Has anyone else tried to follow this kind of plan?

Each PB to beat would have a specific training until i beat the PB, then change the training plan, one by one. I am aware that PB are always hard to beat, sometimes impossible. But i would give it a try. At 35yo i still have hopes! :D

It's definitely possible. I've set all of my PBs in the past five years.

My advice is to go with the furtherest distance first. The preparation is very appropriate for all of your PBs, and when you're aiming for a shorter distance it's mentally more manageable. Admittedly, it's going to be a faster pace though.

Something is wrong with your calculation on your 1 hour row. The 2:09 pace should be close to 14km.

Good luck with your quest!

I never had this exact plan, but I did beat most all my PBs during a year at one point. I would row similar ones (30minute/10K) near each other as I focused on longer or shorter rows. Sounds like a fun challenge and your young so go for it. I like Stu's idea to attack longer stuff first.

Indeed, thanks for your answer. I never had memories of doing 1h exercice, and in fact this 1h is a pyramid exercice i did. Weird that concept2 log recorded this as a 1h training.

I have a FM planned on December so i will have to work my long distance first :) Then try to beat my PB in ordre of distance instead of date, good idea.

Order/Training /PB
1 21,097m 1:30:32.9
2 1:00:00.0 11,171m
3 10,000m 41:23.8
4 30:00.0 7,132m
5 6,000m 26:32.2
6 5,000m 19:41.5
7 2,000m 7:25.4
8 1,000m 4:07.9

Well then, you can easily beat your 1 hour PB right now! Just hop on and row easily for 1 hour. You will likely have more that 11,171m to show for your effort.

I set most of my standing PBs ten years ago. I was younger and fitter then, but I was also just starting out on the erg. While I've had an on again/off again relationship with the erg since then, occasionally using it a bit more frequently and seriously, I haven't come close to those first PBs. The only PBs I have set since were in events I hadn't done during that first year. This season one of my goals is to set new PBs. So, yes, I'm using my PBs to set my training objectives. I will probably attack the 2k, 1k and 500 soonest, then work my way back up the distance/times over the rest of the season. There are a couple I could attack now if I wanted my longer sessions to not be recovery/UT2 sessions.

Event Best Pace Date Action
500m 1:42.0 1:42.0 11/26/12
1,000m 3:39.8 1:49.9 11/16/12
2,000m 7:30.7 1:52.6 12/04/12
5,000m 19:25.3 1:56.5 12/03/12
10,000m 41:28.2 2:04.4 10/24/12
21,097m 1:31:52.5 2:10.6 08/22/22
30:00.0 7,529m 1:59.5 12/05/12
1:00:00.0 13,663m 2:11.7 07/17/22
