You can change the battery on the H10.
Is the firmware on your PM up to date? Which one do you have 3/4/5?

On the monitor, upper right corner, it will say PM5 then...
I use a Garmin Dual, works well.

Make sure that the contacts on the belt are wipes and that the HRM is seated in the belt securely.
Have a look at this for more info.
https://www.concept2.com/service/heart- ... pm4-or-pm5
It can take a few seconds for the belt to pick up on the PM5 sometimes.
Assuming you haven't got it connected to anything else when you're trying?

What type do you have? Perhaps there is a technical paper which can be checked for compatibility.
Like said - check no other device is already connected. BT is a peer - to - peer connection and blocked as soon as connected.
H10 can be connected to 2 devices at the same time if needed. So you can log your HR in PM5 as well as a Beat App or similar.

For a rower with a PM5 monitor you need a heart rate monitor with bluetooth or ANT+.
The old polar belt with the battery that can't be changed is gymlink. Polar T34 / T31. DONT GET THIS, won't work.
If you want to spend $90 for the best, then it's polar h10. If you want to spend $30 google "heart rate belt ant+" and pick one with good reviews. Or search the forum here and find a review/recommendation from someone.

I just bought a Powrlabs chest HR belt and transmitter which is ANT+/Bluetooth 5.0 compliant. It pairs right up with my newly purchased PM5. I verified the reading it was giving by taking my pulse and they were close. I am sure it was my counting that was off. I bought it from Amazon and got a new one in damaged packaging for about $6.00 less than the selling price of $45.00.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B081G ... tag9261-20
One thing I am seeing that I don't like. I have to pair the two up anytime the monitor shuts down. I row a 5 minute warmup and then stretch for 20 minutes before getting back on the machine to row. I need to re-pair. I contacted C2 customer support to ask about this and was told if I use a memory stick I can save the pairing on it and won't have to re-pair each time. I think this happens for any HR Belt.
Either I didn't do it correctly tonight, or I misunderstood what it should be able to do. I'll have to check again tomorrow. I had to re-pair again after starting the second time.
I don't have the option of using Bluetooth as I don't have a Smartphone or tablet. Just a pull out keyboard 3G. I have till Nov to replace it.

Most people use ERGDATA to save the HR monitor and auto reconnect it. You could use the flash drive for this, and it should work, but then you are missing the huge value of the concept2 log.
The C2 online log is incredibly useful. You can literally see the wattage and SPM for every stroke you have ever taken. Look at things like your heart rate for a similar piece two years ago, etc.
(lots of android devices work for ergdata. Ask your kids or someone at work for an old phone with a bad battery. It'll work great. I use an older model Kindle Fire eBook reader to run ErgData. $35 from amazon. Works both bluetooth and usb cable (I am using the cable).

Not only am I getting my way out of shape muscles back working, but now I have to get my brain muscles working to get into current tech! Thanks for your reply Tsnor. I guess I have to get a smartphone. That day is coming. I do have an online log book at Concept 2, but I enter everything manually.

What? You can use a kindle with the pm5? Wow. I would have never thought of that.

As someone who put off buying a smartphone for ages (nothing against them, just not a good value proposition for me), ErgData is the only app I use that actually justifies owning the device. Makes logging sessions faster, easier, and much more useful because of the extra data provided. Keen to try the ErgRace app sometime too, so that I can have a virtual race with others, but haven't gotten around to it yet.
My next purchase should probably be an HR monitor. They sound kind of annoying to use for a casual like me... but the lure of that extra data is so appealing.
