Using the rowing machine for other exercises

Hey,

This might be of interest to some. Various ways of using the seats ability to slide on the rail to assist with other exercises.

I know there is a gym in Australia that uses the C2 rowing machines as the main part of a kind of hybrid pilates reformer - there is a whole room full of machines setup to do pilates exercises but they are simply C2 machines with some sort of platform built around them.

Any other alterntive uses for the rowing machine that I may not have seen ?

The CrossFit gym I go to once programmed some core work using the rower similar to this but otherwise I have never used it for anything but rowing. It worked just fine but there are many other exercises just as or more effective. Could be some variety I guess.

If you or your business own the machine(s), you can adapt it, mod it, rip off the fan shroud, surf the rail with your feet on the seat, do seated cable rows, pull the chain to your ear canals working the obliques, drop your powderpuff dumbbell or lean your naked olympic barbell on the rail, do box jumps, handstands, any damn thing you can think of. If it ain’t yours and there ain’t a sign identifying it as repurposed to a fitter jungle gym, show a tiny bit of respect for the handful of folks who don’t confuse it with a multistation weight stack. Some gyms have water rowers. Destroy those. No one will mind. :D

. . . Aaaannnd I got minimal patience with idjits who walk up and ask if I’m using the rower to which I reply that I am and the next thing I hear is that they weren’t certain cause they noticed I was just sitting there looking at the monitor.
