Re: Where's Henry (hjs) ???
I stumbled across a post of his on the Forum Flyers saying he has had to very reluctantly stop erging due to health issues with his back and possibly other issues.
Hopefully he'll keep posting advice but for now I can understand why he would want to really limit his usage

Totally agree. Henry is an asset to this forum. I hope he finds his way back on.

Re: Where's Henry (hjs) ???
Yes sadly Henry's back has forced him to step back (whilst he still can). Definitely one of the good guys (we met a couple of times). Must be very frustrating for someone who has been so active all their lives.
This is what he wrote recently:

Guys, not much rowing from me lately, my rower is broken, slipping clutch, need to get that fixed, but more importantly, body is broken, shoulders, back and what not are crooked all over. The way it currently goes is really pissing me off, no matter what I do, the body can,t handle it. So need to step away. Not happy about this, but feel I need to do this.

Re: Where's Henry (hjs) ???
Henry definitely is a great wealth of knowledge and perspective. I imagine with his love of the Erg, reading about everyone else's accomplishments and training plans can make it tough to not get the urge to start rowing again - and if that's not something that can be done in good health, gotta squelch that motivator.lindsayh wrote: ↑January 4th, 2020, 5:48 pmYes sadly Henry's back has forced him to step back (whilst he still can). Re: Where's Henry (hjs) ???
Henry, my body was broken virtually all of 2018. My ever rowing again was in doubt. But I finally healed up some - not all the way. Now, I'm erging again. I think you'll make it. You've been doing this a long time. You will heal, adjust, do what you have to do, and be back on the rower when you can. Re: Where's Henry (hjs) ???
Cheers Guys,
The reasons me not posting are I am not rowing atm. And have not fixed my rower yet. I need to find a new balance in what I do and can do. And like mentioned above, not doing it yourself and reading about others is not nice.
I do train some, skierg and fitness a bit. But low key and nothing to talk about.
Also some other stuff where going, my parents housemoving, my mother not in good health. I expect at some point to fix my rower and start using it again. But really have no plans yet.
On a sidenote, I am a bit in contact with Dirk Moller, we are exactly the same age, born on the exact same day. He had a bad fall and tore off a muscle in his leg. So he also is out, at least 3 months he can,t use his leg, drive car etc.
You all enjoy the ergs, keep the forum alive and I will stick my head around sometimes. Make your 2020 a good year!

Take your time, find your equilibrium and return when you are ready. We'll be here when you do and we'll try and skipper the ship in your absence.hjs wrote: ↑January 5th, 2020, 6:13 amCheers Guys,

I know how frustrating it is for me when I'm injured temporarily which is nothing compared to having to possibly accept that it's a permanent problem.
The human body is capable of some amazing things and as Jim mentioned above there is always the hope that you can return.
Take care Henry and all the best for your other personal issues

Great to hear from you, Henry. You'll be back! Did Dirk per chance rupture his quadriceps tendon off the patella? I had that injury 7 years ago and it was a very tough rehab. Tougher in fact than a total knee replacement. Feel free to message if you need some support or advice. Cheers, Erichjs wrote: ↑January 5th, 2020, 6:13 amCheers Guys,

Re: Where's Henry (hjs) ???
All is not lost Henry! Hang in there and just work through your problems and physical issues one at time. Jim has managed to claw his way back from some nastiness. Steve Roede who hasn't posted for several years has been dealing with some very serious health issues which he has managed to get under some semblance of control. I think we're all pulling for you and hoping for the best. Hang in there.
