2020 Goals

As we slide into 2020, what are your goals for the coming year?

Mine in order or priority...

5km - Sub 18 but in reality 18:15 is more likely a sensible goal
10km - Sub 38 which I think should be achievable
2km - revisit the monster and try to squeeze a few seconds out to get to 6:55.

Maybe row a competition for the experience (and humiliation  )

My specific goals are to improve my 2k and 30R20 scores. (If other PB's are achieved along the way, then great :) )
I don't mind if it is 1 second, or however many seconds. Just a new PB on both

And my general goals are to improve technique/power/speed, as well as improve my diet and fitness levels. So basically just trying to do everything that little bit better!

mine are
sub 7min 2k by Oct
compete in NZ indoor rowing champs
weight loss of approx 25-30kg
improve my diet and lifestyle choices to keep my health issues under control

get back in contact with friends and family i havent seen for many years. on that note i have a reunion in 3 weeks for my army cadet class of 1980 when i joined the NZ Army as a youth soldier at 17.
I only did 10 years but meeting up with these guys some that i havent seen for nearly 40 years is like having last talked with them yesterday. the trials and exploits we endured together in that cadet year were epic (very lord of the flies in some cases). going to be a great gathering.

That might actually work.... we're touring both islands but ending in the north as I have relatives in Auckland.

I have goals for the season, so have a bit more than 4 months to reach:

total rowing meters: 3.000.000
500m - 1:20
1k - 3:00
2k - 6:30
5k - 17:45
10k - 37:00
1min - 380
30min - 8.150
60min - 15.700

by now I only reached 1 goal (1min 380m), most are very realistic to be reached (60', 30', 10k, 5k, 500m), but 1k and 2k are far away.

As I substitute some UT2 rowing with the bikeerg I won't get the 3mm, but hopefully more than 2,5mm + about 1,5-2mm bikeerg (combined more training time than only 3mm rowing, so better I would say)

Early 2020: Marathon row

After this a sub 7 min 2K
PB is now 7:50, but this was a while ago during a 3 x 2K. In my first few weeks of rowing.
Will test it again in february. I think I'm capable of a 7:20-7:30.

A non-rowing goal: muscle-up

Let's see how we get on this year - my PB is 7:29, and I'm sure I will have the capability to lower that within the next few months. So with a year of good work, who knows. I won't say sub-7 for myself, but we will be working towards fairly similar stuff. Good luck!

WW - just put 'em in your signature. Me - continue the process of getting stronger in the gym and more powerful on the erg at the expense of being the most aerobic I've ever been (I'd like to at least maintain some basic cardio fitness so <18:20 5K and 37:xx 10K would be nice). New 1min and 500m PBs will come in 2020, of that I am certain - see signature. I really would like something around 3:10-3:11 for the 1K too. In the gym I'd like to achieve that basic standard of....bench 2 plates*, squat 3 plates and deadlift 4 plates. That would mean 95kg, 135kg and 175kg respectively. I think that will also be in order of how hard I will find it given my experience so far.

* a "plate" being 20kg/45lbs and with an Olympic bar.

If you take bodyweight into comparison (although not direct comparison really I suppose as likely a non linear relationship) these are about what my goals are.
