Just assembled it today.. total noob

Post by baobeii » October 31st, 2019, 3:56 pm

Hi all!

Just assembled the rig today. I've downloaded the ErgData app for android. Also bought a book called 'The Erg Book: 375+ of the Greatest Indoor Rowing Workouts of All Time'

Here's a pic of my setup. I haven't even done any rowing on it yet (too late not today, noise concern). But very much looking forward to it!!

If anyone has any beginner tips please let me know.

Number one, first 6 weeks, only focus on your stroke. Build a good stroke and use a good technique. After that depending on your goals focus on a plan, or make one yourself.

Perfect advice right there. Stay patient and don't compare yourself to anyone else. It takes a long time to build erg fitness and there are no short cuts to hard work, swearing and lots of metres

Hi all!

Here's a pic of my setup.
Where?

Rowing is hard, especially when just starting out. Try to devote most of this time in the seat to developing a good technique before anything else imo. Once you feel your stroke is getting decent efficiency and you're connecting well with the machine, then proceed to engage in some proper sessions. Take it easy to begin with, and mostly row so you're not getting out of breath too quickly and therefore making you stop after only a short period of time. This is a common mistake among newbies, they push too hard and can only row for a short distance as a result.

Enjoy your new machine, it will get you very fit if you stick with it
