Recommend me some over/on ear headphones

Not the in-ear ones but the ones more like "cans". Alot of people use Beats ones on cycle turbo trainers but obviously there is more movement on the erg so need to stay put. Also obviously need to be fairly sweat resistant and not be prematurely assigned to the bin as is the case with so many pairs of headphones it would seem when one of the speakers loses it's connection.

How come not in ear?

I've recently got Jaybird Vista in ear which are decent.

I think the sound is better with over/on ear.

As aside, when did it become fashionable for everyone in public gyms to wear over/on ear headphones? Personally in that environment I don't think I'd like using them.

I've tried 2-3 pairs of on ear headphones. I find them really uncomfortable and they won't stay put during sports. So I'm a big fan of over ear when it comes to sound and comfort. I wear my over ear headphones 15-20 hours per week.

Over ear earphones with very good noise cancelling will cost you 150-300 dollars.
Cheaper ones have noise cancelling too, but they won't work as well and you will have to raise the volume too high with the risk of damaging you hearing. Even with good noise cancelling you will hear the erg, so you will never have truly great sounding music. If you are okay with very expensive headphones dripping in sweat it is an option. For me it isn't worth the risk + my ears get really hot.

For rowing I use a pair of cheaper in-ear sports headphones like https://tinyurl.com/y4fkl45w or https://tinyurl.com/y236zbys
They won't cause extra heat on your head and block the same amount of external noise as midrange over ear headphones with noise cancellation.

So if I was you I would buy a cheap pair of sports in-ear to try it. If you don't like it you can always go for the more expensive option.

Cheap, great sound and over the ear the Koss KSC75 is a classic for a reason. Not sylish, but comfortable.

I love my Borofone BE5 but they are in ear, so probably not much use to you. They cost about £15 but they seem to have stopped making them so I have been stockpiling them from ebay. They look like the first pair of headphones that Thomas recommends and there are loads of similar ones on Amazon.

They have got the best sound I have ever had in sports headphones, (i have had Monster, Sennheiser and Sony over the years) and they have lasted really well too.

The ear fins are really good at keeping them in place, apart from the need to occasionally push them back in when I'm really pushing hard

I use Bose QC35-II. They connect via BT to my AppleTV so I can watch Netflix on the TV while rowing. And the active noise cancelling is very good at suppressing the fan noise from the C2.

I just have to reduce the amount of noise cancelling to Medium while I row. If they are on Max, the external microphones will pick up on the air movement around me while I slide forth and back - which actually causes the headphones to generate noise instead of cancelling it.

I don't know how the ear cushions will hold up to the amount of sweat I produce while rowing. I know from my earlier Bose QC15 that these cushions don't last long and will have to be replaced every year or so. But that is a price I am willing to pay for the wearing comfort.

I've killed every in ear BT headphone I've tried. Pretty much gave up on in ear. I've been using these- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019U ... UTF8&psc=1

I got them for about $35. The noise cancellation works well, comfortable enough for 1.5 hour session, stays put even on the skierg. They're not rated for any kind of moisture resistance but I've not had a problem yet. And if they die I'm not out much and they sound much better than any in ear I've tried.

The noise cancellation makes things really peaceful, can barely hear the fan and I have the louder model C.

With iems (in ear monitors) fit is everything. If not perfect they are uncomfortable and will pop out as you sweat. Yep, if that happens they don't fit. I love listening through iem's from portable devices but not when working out.

Another issue I have is I wear glasses. Either I need an over the head headphone or something like the KSC75s. I haven't rowed long enough to know whether the noise will prove worrisome. I doubt the Koss's will block much, if any, outside noise. However, back when I ran I loved them.

However, each to their own. What works for one may not work at all for another.
