100K Row - How I Survived - video
Hello Gang:
When I finished my 100K row last month I immediately made an audio recording to document my thoughts upon completion. In the video linked below, I describe the following topics...
- How I prepared for the attempt (my first time rowing above 63K)
- My thoughts & feelings at different stages of the attempt
- What I eat and drank (during and prior)
- How my body reacted
- What I did to maintain focus and get through it
- What I struggled with or found difficult
- How I felt immediately afterward
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3yckd64WpM
Its my hope that these notes may be useful to someone wanting to attempt the 100K. Just 2 years ago, I weighed 252 lbs and would have never considered trying something like this.... It took a lot of work but I managed to find success. You can too!

Great video. If I ever lose my marbles and decide to attempt a 100k I will definitely use this for motivation. I was watching you live on and off so good to know you survived in one piece.
I am tired just thinking about it.

Lance, thanks for sharing. Love hearing about (slightly) crazy stuff like this...
I noticed you have your fan behind you, obviously better than in front (that's where I have mine)? I'd have thought that'd give you backache like you get when sitting in a draft? Obviously completely different...

The fan would be better in front. Your maximizing the surface area of your body the air is flowing over. I guess its a personal thing however but I find it better from the front with the air in my face and breathing fresh air.

Pro video editing and the narration is flawless. But the subject matter just goes ON and ON and ON.

No doubt.. I could have easily trimmed this edit down to around 3 minutes... but there were lots of little thoughts I recorded that I didnt want to leave out.jackarabit wrote: ↑January 17th, 2019, 7:31 pmPro video editing and the narration is flawless. Sorry! I was thinking of the nearly limitless panoramas of pain—anticipated and realized—which commonly dominate accounts of ultradistance attempts in several sports. I would watch your video loop 500 times in preference to even thinking about doing an 8 hr. shift on the rower.lancecampeau wrote: ↑January 17th, 2019, 8:12 pmNo doubt..
