What music do you row to?

Post by Rownan » May 20th, 2018, 6:59 am

Searched the archives but couldn't find a thread on this. No doubt we all like diff stuff.

I'm quite into electronic music, house and techno and the like go well with rowing but sometimes the tempo is a bit quick for a beginner.

I like some older more experimental stuff too, today I rowed with this on: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ys0HyevZpQg - great repetitive rhythm!

I listen to the occasional podcast too but music is better if possible.

You must be new here.

These "what music do you row to" threads are tedious in the extreme. Pick what you like. What does it matter what I do or don't like?

As I mentioned in our recent PM, I don't listen to music when I row. (Or lift weights.)

Must be the curmudgeonliness of incipient old age.

I have what most people would consider to be strange/bad taste in music so I'm always interested to see what people recommend.

I have a couple of 2k playlists which are more Rocky Balboa style but for longer rows it's a mix of stuff, including John Denver (Country Roads, Rocky Mountain High), Jim Croce (Time in a Bottle), Gordon Lightfoot (If You Could Read My Mind), the Eagles, Arcade Fire, Tracy Chapman, Vangelis, Elton John, Cat Stevens...

Okay I've already done enough harm to any reputation I had. Also possibly a bit of Dixie Chicks, Bastille and Frankie Miller. I will listen to anything from bagpipe music to electronica but I'm not crazy about jazz or hip hop.

Always house and techno for me. Nothing else gets me going enough and I listen to A LOT of music. I have probably got over 3000 albums of most genres you can think of.

@Jimmyshand, nothing wrong with those selections mate, I just can't row to them

Weird! I would swear Doug locked this thread earlier this morning immediately after the Irish fellow’s second post. Must have had second thoughts.

Music (or other stuff) is a personal choice, my preferences don't matter, but...

I use noise cancelling headphones with my music to eliminate the erg noise and cooling fan noise to try to preserve my rapidly dwindling hearing.

What???!

I have tinnitus. I hear crickets. I don’t listen to them.

Yep, he locked it then deleted the post he made saying he locked it. What happened, besides the several other threads/posts he deleted, of his own and others, and the private messages, is detailed here, to an extent: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=179698

Glad some people dignified this thread with a response :D
