I have seen the term "centers" to describe intervals. Examples,

3 x 5-10 strokes on 2 min. centers- high stroke rate maximal power 6-8 min. active paddling complete this set 5 times for a maximum of 150 strokes.

4 x 1000 meter on 12 min. centers

I dont know what centers means. Thanks for the help

Centers refers to the interval spacing.

In the 4x1000 example, you would start the hard part every 12 minutes. So assuming you did your warm-up before you start, row hard for 1000m, then rest until the time hits 12:00, 1000m hard, etc.
