I've been watching some of Tom Millington's videos which include ergo sessions - kind of a lifestyle video blog. Add any you think others might be interested in....

Went to the gym on a Friday afternoon... tried to do a 15K / 60min piece and failed... I was SO psyched up to do this piece and had been thinking about it all week... I was really bummed and wanted to record my thoughts to share with my subscribers on YouTube... Here is the video...

POSTSCRIPT: There's a happy ending to all this... after I made this video and published it I ended up going back to the gym and switched into "beast mode" for a max effort 1K... pulled a PB @ 3:15.5

Well done on the PB Lance. I don't watch any videos so I can't help with that

I tried to find a video of Sean Gaffney's recent WR at the BIRC. He was the 1000m adaptive WR holder and pushed the BIRC to have a 2K Adaptive class. I believe he rowed a 6:38 2K this year. He's a former Invictus Games champion and Adaptive Power lifter. I'd LOVE to see that video. I have some Facebook friends that know Sean well. I'm indirectly connected to him. I'll see what I can do. From what I read about the BIRC from most, Wiggins was a disappointment and this was the highlight this year.

@Lance - great video. It's a cliched thing to say but I do think we learn a lot from our failures or, more specifically, how you handle them (I'm not good at this).

@Mike - would love to see that video if you find it/have permission to share it.

Love that video and watching it again makes me realise that I probably need to do something similar to his start on my 100m and 500m pieces.

Like Stu I don't watch a lot of this sort of video so can't help much. This video was popular back when I was rowing at Uni (2005) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fmZmKsL5eE&. It's just the Any Given Sunday speech played over various rowing footage.

@ Lance, i also meant to say that your video was good too. I think that it's due to all my training over the past six months I totally take failures in my stride now, and I start a forensic introspection as soon as it happens, which thankfully isn't very often, but no one is immune from it.

For me, this cox video (surprise, some off-color language) from GW beating Navy reminds me of the teamwork and what attracted me to rowing. I know there are tons of these posted, but this guy really does a great job IMO pushing his rowers.

Exactly! nobody ever wants to have to do this... but I really believe that future success depends one's ability to objectively analyze failure and pinpoint reasonable/obtainable changes that may be required for improvement. The Concept 2 does a great job of recording the technical performance statistics but a detailed/accurate recording of one's personal thoughts/feelings at the moment also has great value. Its this anecdotal/non-quantifiable data that can really help give context to a performance (good or bad).
