I'm an old timer (age 61) and have had my model B for about 25 years...

I'm a big old timer (245 pounds) and I find that I lose some of my energy to over heating...

To combat this and remain able to go as hard as I can I have a large fan circulating at medium speed nearby...

I row shirtless and I find this air circulation keeps me cool and allows me to go farther and faster than I would otherwise...

Does any one else regularly employ a fan to keep cool and thus improve their performance??

At the gym I've been doing without. When I row at home I have two 20" box fans going, one pointed at my chest/face, and one pointed at my back.

Any issues with back ache after? Presumably not. Reason I ask is my single fan is pointed at my chest BUT I get a very sweaty back which then drives me nuts getting itchy for the rest of the day.

I always thought my old model B provided a pretty good "breeze" on its own because of the "open" nature of the flywheel etc.

I had never seen or heard of that product until this posting...

They do work, but don,t know if you put it on a old b..

I had a Cbreeze for a while, on my Model D. It was fine for blowing air over one side of me but the other side missed out. I looked like an antiperspirant ad - half dry, half dripping. I've seen others raving about this piece of kit but it didn't work for me. Your mileage might vary of course. I'm not that big a bloke but I sweat profusely on the erg. In the end I settled for a headband and a couple of wrist bands.

Nothing more than the usual muscle soreness from rowing.

No fan but have erg outside whenever possible and always shirt off.

Yes, big fan on middle setting just next to the fan cage targeting face and chest. Its good/better but I still overheat....

wear a pair of shades?

I often could with heating rowing outside in winter.
