Sweaty hands
Sweaty hands
When I row any longer piece I get such sweaty hands that they can start slipping. Is there anything to do for this? I am working on keeping a looser grip. lThank you
Re: Sweaty hands
No grip is even needed. Think of the fingers as hooks and not using the thumb at all. The palms should not have all that much contact with the handle. OTW it is a different matter, depending on which feathering method is used and on how rough the waves are.LindaAnne wrote:When I row any longer piece I get such sweaty hands that they can start slipping. Some folks wrap the handles with something like an old pair of sweat socks.

I use full-fingered cycling gloves with a mesh back and a grippy palm. This increases the friction and makes it easy to row with a hook grip as Bob S. mentions. I usually rest my thumbs on top of the handle, sometimes against the edge.
Re: Sweaty hands
I use anti-persperant... problem gone!

Re: Sweaty hands
I have tried bicycling cloves and they were not very comfortable. I also tried handlebar tape and that was worse. The adhesive from the tape got all over the bars, the tape wouldn't stay on and it was a real mess cleaning the bars. Now I just live with the sweaty hands.

Re: Sweaty hands
I just periodically wipe one hand, or the other on the side of my shorts, or back of my shirt. (Those are the only spots not soaked from my perspiration.)LindaAnne wrote:When I row any longer piece I get such sweaty hands that they can start slipping. Is there anything to do for this?
