How many of you erg late at night?

I'm curious how many of you choose to erg late into the evenings? This is not something i currently do however, but i might start doing later sessions  Now and then i feel so hyper and full of energy later at night and think some erg will help instead of pushups etc! It also helps having the PM5, so you can row in the dark if you want. I'm thinking, maybe some 10pm sessions etc. I know it's advised not to workout late for sleep benefits n stuff... but years ago i used to be out jogging at 11pm into the am some times  Never done me any harm :D

Most of my rowing workouts start at 7:00-7:30pm which is pretty late for me (I am usually in bed no later than 10:30pm on weekdays). That hasn't really affected my sleep, despite my fears. I will say that, when I used to play in a volleyball league, I would occasionally have games that ended at 11:00pm, and I would be too wired to sleep - I couldn't fall asleep until 2:00!!

I usually always train between 8pm and about 9:30pm just due to spending half he night getting the kids in bed lol.

A hard interval session, later in that time bracket can make for a more restless night. But easy or steady state work is generally very easy to recover from and I usually end up falling asleep during a tv show afterwards

I tend to avoid it. TBH I've not experimented enough but generally if I finish within 2-2.5hrs of my bedtime I don't drop off to sleep as easily. I feel quite "wired". Due to circadium rhythm the body is most efficient purportedly around 5pm, but I've done some really strong sessions late morning and midday more so. I'd never erg first thing - to me it just feels wrong. That is largely in the head though because when I was doing cycle TTs many of them were v early in the morning to avoid traffic, and you just got used to necking 200mg of caffeine and getting on with the job. Similarly if I'm doing a max or near max session (more common for me because that style of training so far has worked better for me on the erg) I will take caffeine in some form so generally that means a mid/late morning erg as I don't tend to take caffeine from mid afternoon onwards. I suppose like lots of things YOU need to experiment. I like the idea of going for a run at night when everyone else is indoors or in bed - gives a different perspective on the world. I'm like that though. :)

I certainly wouldn't be doing any hard stuff late at night thats for sure!! It would be just something steady low rate, 4-5k.

I have done erg workouts first thing in the morning after just getting up (skipping breakfast just water) and actually found them really good and therapeutic... it's just your head rules some times telling you things like "you don't have the energy for this yet" Thats just a story you are telling yourself.

I would prefer to do it earlier, but that is the only time I usually have available, so I row in the evenings.
I fall asleep quite easily most of time, as I am tired from the day and from the exercise.

I'm mostly doing dog walks later in the evenings. I find that after those i tend to fall asleep quite easily, even while watching a good movie. My usual rowing schedule is anywhere between 1pm-7pm. On very odd occasions an early morning session!!

Between 7:30 and 9 pm. Energy levels are pretty good and this is the only time I have to erg!

I work 12 hour shifts and so sometimes rowing between 20:00 and 22:00 is the only way I can fit in a session. I try not to do it too often though, and stick to steady state sessions. So long as I get my metres in the Concept2 log book before I go to bed, it doesn't normally affect my sleep.

I avoid it, it raises the heart rate and I'm wired for hours afterwards.

Even rowing from 7pm till 7:30pm creates problems sleeping. Your better off rowing in the early mornings, as long as your a "Morning Person" that is and you can get out of bed early.

For a PB about mid morning would be the best time, unfortunately this doesn't fit in the schedule if you have to work.

Of course it all depends on your intensity and distance, or essentially the time your HR is elevated. For me it takes hours to wind down if the HR is 160 average or higher.

Depends mostly on intensity, training in the morning is the worse imo. You have to fully awake, and that takes hours. Best time is mid afternoon, ofcourse very difficult with a normal workday.
Races are often early, which I find horrible, always costs time.

I'm not really a morning person Carl, so later sessions suit me better!! But like i say from what morning sessions i have done in the past i found benefit me well!!! But i need to roll out the right side of bed with my motivated head on to be up for them, which isn't very often.
