Knee issues

I've been trying to do 5000m every day, at a leisurely pace (around 23 minutes) just to get myself going on a weight loss program. I am finding that I get pain around the inside edge of my kneecaps. Has anyone else experienced this, and do you have any tips for stretching or whatever to help stop it from happening? Thanks!

Don't slide forward as much.
Max should be lower leg vertical position.
A lot of big guys tend to twist their legs outwards to allow their stomach room.
Defiantly a no no.legs parallel all the way..

Yes, this occurred to me. I think I was sometimes letting myself slide forward too much, which feels like going down too far when you do squats. Bad for the knees. I'm trying to be aware of not doing that, but was still getting the kneecap twinges.

Ok, thanks. I am overweight, obviously (6', 218 lbs) and have a big belly. I wasn't aware that it's so important to keep the legs parallel, I'll try to pay attention to that too. Thanks.
Edit: What am I doing wrong with the quotes? I thought I had all the square brackets in the right places...
