I've only been erging for about a month now, and have seen some decent improvments. I'm gonna start doing some 2k tests on Tuesdays. This morning I did a 1000m warm up, 2000m effort and 1000m cool down. My previous 2000m was 7:55 a few weeks ago. Today, I set out to crush that - I was working for at least a 7:30. I had a strong start, but faded a little in the middle and pretty strong finish = 7:21.2. I'm pretty stoked with that!
Now I need to some "real" structure to try and chip away at that number to sub 7 hopefully.

Congratulations on the progress. Always remember these days when imporvement came quickly. Soon you will be struggling for tenths of second but be hopeful that it will be in the vicinity of 7:00.

You may not want to test every Tuesday. That will act as a serious interruption of your training plan as the recovery from an all out 2k test may take at least a day. Every 2 weeks at most - maybe limit yourself to once every 3 weeks. Good training is an indicator of how you will progressively get faster on your tests. If you hold a SS pace more easily every week, you know you're going to be able to push it more on the tests.
