5k PB today. Did a better job of keeping the rate high than I have been lately. Really struggled to stay consistent on the splits through the middle, saw a lot more 1:39s than I would have liked, but I made up for it with a strong last 1000m.

10k PB today.

After my recent improvements (and probably a fair bit of a boost to the self-belief that I can do the harder paces and hold them for a bit of time), it was the turn of the 10k.

Old time : 41:58.5 - set in August.

Being happy to just PB it (I've got a couple of days on the hills this weekend), set myself a target pace of 2:05. Breaking 41:40 would be a nice step

Final time : 41:36.4 - 2:04.8 pace

Certainly more to come from there - properly hydrated, mentally on it, not having had a couple of beers the night before, I reckon the 41:00 target might be there before the end of 2020

Can't argue with that. Blisteringly fast.

Are you going to do a 2k any time soon, or did you have enough of that amount of pain, fear and loathing in college?

More good stuff Robbie. Now you’ve got the bug and the confidence I can see lots of chipping away on all your distances.

Wasn't feeling like a double day today, so went for a 10k test. Haven't properly tested 10k before, so was a PB, but boy did it hurt. Used 87 drag to keep the rate up and stay smooth. Think I could go sub 1:50 split with my usual drag.

10,000m / 37:09.2 / 1:51.4 / 253w / r28 / 175 HR
2000m / 7:32.3 / 1:53.0 / 242w / r29 / 162 HR

I'll definitely do a 2k-focused training block in the spring, probably March-June. For now I'm gonna get some volume in during the holiday challenge and then split my time between erging and cross country skiing through the middle of winter.

500TT 🚨PB by 3s 😁 for the Lightweight Ranking Challenge. TBH I really didn't think this was going to happen so really happy to get it done. Surprised myself with this one.

1:31.9 500m 1:31.9 39
0:18.7 100m 1:33.5 42
0:18.3 200m 1:31.4 39

0:18.3 400m 1:31.4 39
0:18.2 500m 1:30.9 43

10' warmup
2k cooldown (but didn't really need it as our erg room was 14deg 🥶)

Indeed and looking at the pacing certainly not 100%. Last 100 can never be the fastest.

Good first go and apart from the drag with that last 2k you’ve definitely got better in you than that. A nice 1:51 pace all the way through would have been kinder to yourself.
Look forward to seeing a proper go!!

Thx Henry...I'm generally a slow starter on sprints but could definitely push the middle/end a bit more.
