NavigationHazard - I see a vacant spot in your PB table for a FM :)
Nav is more likely to do 85 high intensity 500m intervals with very short rests than ever do a continuous FM.

Don't usually post on this page, but thought I just might after my results yesterday.
I rowed in the late 1970's at Santa Clara Univ. Since I hadn't competed in about 30 years, I did some poking around and saw several posts by a Bob S....who seemed to know what he was talking about. So I listened. I found the Eddie Fletcher warmup sequences and programed them into my logcard. As of mid December, my best 2K time was 8:20. After 3 weeks of doing the warmup and then one of the Fave Five workouts, I retested myself - 8:04. I felt good, figuring I might do a wee bit better at the venue, but would be happy if I finished around 8 minutes.
The race venue was quite exciting. To be able to meet Joan and John VB (whom my college coach constantly quoted) was great. To be seated next to Mary Perrot was amazing. As a result, I rowed 7:51.1; 13 seconds better than my previous PB.
So thank you Bob S. You were a terrific source of knowledge and an inspiration to watch.

Great job Brian! My own JVTC contributions were a bit low for the last few days when I was fiddling around with a couple of sprint time trials (500m and 1K) and a 2K race. I had intended to do a 5K TT (for the nonathlon, as well as the JVTC) early Sunday afternoon to take advantage of my limited time at sea level, but, in the interest of domestic tranquillity, I agreed to go to lunch with my wife after the 2K instead.

Thanks- it was rough.
A lot of my enthusiasm for the challenge has waned since hitting a mil- I'll probably finish with 1.2mil give-or-take- I can't say it was fun...

And you always will. I will never know what it's like to give birth, cox a bow-loader 4+, or do a FM on an erg. In a boat is another matter.

Come on guy, I did one! (and I'll never do another)
How about you and I do the Boston erg-a-thon as a team? That's the race that Paul Flack was talking about on the same day as the Boston Marathon.
It's a fun day, I did my one and only FM there 2 years ago. We can alternate 1k's. yeah?

I guess you'll hear back from me after the competition with my new 2k PB
Well, here I am. Today the Swiss Rowing Indoors took place. It was a very intereseting experience, the first time I competed in a sport. Since I had to start in the Open category it was clear that I'd be moving in the slower field, but I'm happy with the result and achieved my new PB for
2k in 6:47.7
which means a 1:41.9 split, which is perfect, since I hoped to stay below 1:42. Thus mission accomplished!

Was feeling down with a bad cough/cold, but decided a 2k needed to be done anyway. Turns out I dropped 7 seconds off of my time from just two weeks ago. 6:56.1, down from 7:03.3! Hopefully going to be healthy and under 6:50 for crash b's!

2k test today, PR'ed by 2 seconds.
For some reason I'm not making much improvement whatsoever. Not sure what's going on. I'm happy I PR'ed but the rest of the team is making bigger drops.

All time PBs are a thing of the distance past for this geezer, but I suppose that this is a reasonable place to post a season best - the best for the last couple of seasons as a matter of fact.
It started out to be a routine, steady-state 10K, capped at 24spm. It was going smoothly at a faster pace than I had intended and I was feeling pretty good about it, so I kept the pace and had enough for a sprint at the end.
Previous season best: 44:50.0 (2:14.5).
Today: 44:24.5 (2:13.2).
