I think after my PP session yesterday I am finally back to pre-Xmas fitness level.

8*500m 3:30r but instead of aiming the intervals at the pace I achieved last time for this piece (1:43.5), I aimed for my peak on this piece (1:42.4), which I had achieved in October last year.

8*500 3:30r
1:42.4
1:42.4
1:42.3
1:42.4
1:42.3
1:42.4
1:37.8 hell yeah

so average for this is down to 1:41.7 now.

Bloody hell that's impressive!

Quick session for me last night as I didn't want to miss a day, literally got home from work, jumped on the erg then left again as soon as I'd finished. Target was 1:48.4 but I had a bit of motivation as I was in a rush.

PP 2.1 Pyramid
14:25.1 - 4,000m - 1:48.1 - 28
0:54.1 - 250m - 1:48.2 - 30
1:48.1 - 500m - 1:48.1 - 28
2:42.3 - 750m - 1:48.2 - 28
3:36.3 - 1,000m - 1:48.1 - 28
2:42.3 - 750m - 1:48.2 - 28
1:48.2 - 500m - 1:48.2 - 28
0:53.7 - 250m - 1:47.4 - 28

Hi Mitchell, not sure - probably go for a 2K test in the first instance.

I've just received a book called "The Erg Book" which has 375 erg workouts in it and 14 week plans to prepare for a 2K and 6K test. So I might follow the 14 week 2K plan and see how much I can improve my 2K time over that period. I'll see how that goes and then maybe start the full Pete Plan after that.

As summer arrives I'll probably be out on the MTB more and I have a week of walking in Scotland coming up in July. One of the reasons for the erg was to increase fitness and lose weight to help with those 2 activities (still waiting for the weight to drop so i think i need to eat less!!) as well as recover from a fractured pelvis which happened almost exactly a year ago and which ended running for me.

Had a small workplace injury that prevented me from rowing for about 4 days... so my schedule got messed up. Rowed PP 2.1 on Thursday last week... then finished the week with just some medium paced long rows. Getting back on schedule this week. First attempt at the pyramid... was pretty happy with it... started very conservatively.

I'm taking this week off after my first cycle of the PP and my 2k time trial two days ago. I'm going to just do 10k steady state rows and start another PP cycle next week.

I found the 6 day/week demanding PP rows very tiring. I can see how folks can get burnt out on this plan.

I can't row for six out of seven days, that does sound like a lot if you are really giving it your all each time. I only do four sessions and a dynamic hot Pilates session. Personally I need a couple of days rest but I do get up at 4:45am to erg so that might have something to do with it

BPP 23.2 - 8 x 500m/2 min rest

supposedly this is a 2K predictor...

Thanks! Your times aren't that far off mine so you could probably do this in a few months too. :)

Tonight I moved on to the 4*2000m 5r

Last time I did this I did it at 1:52.2. My PB for it seems to be 1:51.6 back in November last year. This time I was aiming to just get it below 1:52.0.

1:51.9
1:51.9
1:51.9
1:51.6

So overall 1:51.8, which is fine. I should be able to beat my PB on the next rotation, but it does suggest that I'm not quite at peak fitness again yet...

It was a very tough session though!

Hopefully I'll stay injury free this year as that set me back a fair bit last year. Good work on the 2ks, that's my session for tonight.

BPP 15.5 4x1500 3'r
Target 2:01.4
Not only is this my least favorite workout, it mentions I"ll be doing the same thing with an additional rep next week.

Hit 2:01.3 on each interval. Glad it's over.

I know that feeling, the 1500 intervals are the worst!

2km intervals for me today, target was 1:54.7. That was a tough session! :D

PP2.3 4x2km/5'r
30:32.6 - 8,000m - 1:54.5 - 25
7:38.7 - 2,000m - 1:54.6 - 25
7:38.6 - 2,000m - 1:54.6 - 25
7:38.4 - 2,000m - 1:54.6 - 25
7:36.9 - 2,000m - 1:54.2 - 25

Two weeks back in rowing after years away I'm going to tackle the Beginners Pete Plan next week - aiming for 4/5 rows a week. Quite excited to follow a structured regime for the rower. Already seen improvements in the two weeks so no idea what the BPP will do for me!
