10k PB - 37:05,2 - -17''

I almost decided to take a rest day today but thought I need some preparation for the 30' challenge next week. The plan was to go sub 37:15, but it was easier than expected, now I'm a bit dissappointed that I didn't go a bit faster for the first 8k and get sub37. Nevertheless I'm happy with a new PB and some extra confidence for the coming 30'. On a good day I should get >8150, hopefully close to 8200.

Thank you very much fellas! Next time I'll get the sub37 milestone :D

@ Stu:
Yeah the UT2 work helps a lot, and the bikeerg prevents me from a tightened back and forearms. I'll always be a better sprinter, but my long stuff confidence is getting better and better :D Next week I'll go for a new 30' PB but I'll give it another go soon! And it was 17 secs faster
Have you done the 500m?
Haha, sorry mate, and to be fair 17 seconds is a lot more impressive.

No, I have had to avoid the 500 as my back is slightly aggravated and there isn't many worse ideas than trying to thrash my way through a 500m PB. Hopefully will be manageable tomorrow but I need to take it easier for a few days
Wise decision, 500m with an aggravated back is no fun, and you're in such great shape atm, no need to risk an injury!

Trouble is mine was so painful that I now don't want to go near it again  ....would rather do a 2km :o (which I will for the Spring Series anyway)
All good fun. I'll be glad when the Row Battles and Spring Series are over though so I can get back on my plan.

60 minutes Time Trial

Distance.............16011 Metres
SPM..................30

New British Record (and an all time PB) in the 60-69 Lightweight Category and only the 3rd person in this category ever to go over 16k. :D

Finally done it! :o

After all the build up it really didn't feel too bad as I held a steady 1:52.6 for 40 minutes then picked it up gradually in the last 20 minutes.

Now onwards to the HM....and then the FM....... :?
67 year old, 72 kilo (159lbs), 5'8''/174cm (always the shortest on the podium!) male. Based just south of London.
Best rows as an over 60. One Hour.....16011 metres. 30 mins.....8215 metres. 100k 7hrs 14 mins.

Outstanding work, Rod.

I can't even imagine rating 30spm for an hour, never mind at the amazing split needed to get this record, .

As always, it's inspirational that these are also PBs.

Thank you for the kind words Dougie,Max, Stu and Jimmy they are very much appreciated.

I've been working towards this for the last two years so relieved as well as absolutely delighted to have finally got over that pesky 'barrier'

I owe a lot to my coach Eddie Fletcher who has managed to bring my stroke rates down and increase my stroke power as well as improving my overall fitness and endurance. As an example my previous record for the hour was 15881 metres (1:53.3 pace) at 34 spm...so the 30 of today was a big change....wish I'd started working with him sooner but there you go...hindsight is a wonderful thing!

Right....on to the HM and FM...cheers all.
