Didn’t row yesterday due to bowling, and felt good today so I decided to try one hour for the first time, having only done 10k before. Feel really good about this result. Once I realized with around 20 minutes left I could hit 13k, I buckled down a bit.

1:00:00.0 13,021m 2:18.2 132 755 22
12:00.0 2,589m 2:19.0 130 748 23
24:00.0 2,585m 2:19.2 130 745 23
36:00.0 2,585m 2:19.2 130 745 22
48:00.0 2,606m 2:18.1 133 756 22
1:00:00.0 2,657m 2:15.4 141 784 22

Was still feeling good from this row, and after a couple days off (one to rest, one to rearrange furniture all over the house) decided to take a crack at my previous 10k best of 46:17.5. Decided to set out at 2:15 and see how long I could hold it. I surprised myself.

Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M
44:40.5 10,000m 2:14.0 145 800 22
8:59.8 2,000m 2:14.9 142 790 23

8:46.4 10,000m 2:11.6 154 828 22

Great job everyone!
I’ve been doing half marathons for three consecutive weeks now and each week I set a new PB.
Really proud of my time today since I climbed the rankings.
1:26:07 done by a short and skinny, weak guy (62.4 kg).
This is currently the 10th fastest time (verified only) this season in my weight class and and age group. :o
Rowing since september 2019
Height: 171 cm
Weight: 62-63 kg

PB:
HM 1:25:29 12/28/19
60min 15,093m 10/24/19

Outstanding. Did you spend the whole of the last 16k one handed?!?
Ha! No, just about 5 strokes. It seemed to take the discomfort from an 9/10 to a 6/10. I suspect the reduction in pace from only using one hand had something to do with that. I've got a 53rd birthday coming up in a little over a week. I might try for 53k just because I'm crazy.

Ha, my Cda was always crap Paul. :D
Finding the erg more fun than the turbo, in fact just doing outdoor rides now and will save the intervals until the Spring.

Impressed by your 60 min time - and I am aiming for a 1:30 HM so 1:21 is really good.
You don't mention on your post your 100 mile TT medal, too modest.

yeh, and mine got to be v v good!! it was almost like cheating lol. tbh you should be able to smash 1:30 for a HM...that 1:21 I did was 3 years ago now when I was still living off the residual cardio from testing, even think I'd been to the pub earlier that day for a few ciders!! I'm a bit annoyed really I didn't push the PBs just that little bit more when I had the cardio.

Hi, do you think it's more important to have physical strength or cardio ability to get the most gains?

cardio for all but the shortest stuff. personally I found even injury prevention e.g. from a weak lower back, was best addressed with just time adjusting to the ergo.

New 60 Min PB with 16,110 M (1:51.7 pace)

Time/Meters/Pace/SPM
60:00/16110/1:51.7/23

6:00/1626/1:50.7/25
12:00/1633/1:50.2/25
18:00/1630/1:50.4/23
24:00/1612/1:51.6/22
30:00/1619/1:51.1/22
36:00/1593/1:53.0/21
42:00/1586/1:53.5/21
48:00/1589/1:53.3/22
54:00/1600/1:52.5/24
60:00/1622/1:51.0/25

Nothing too spectacular but a decent improvement of 72m and .5 pace. I really needed this as my performances on the ERG have been sort of up and down for a few months, so getting a PB felt good. This was the day after a hard CF workout too so I am guessing I wasn't the freshest. I went quicker than planned in first 30 minutes but was doing OK and had given myself some cushion. This was a good thing but in my head I knew I could now average 1:53 for second 30 minutes and PB, as soon as this entered my head I slowed down to about a 1:55 pace and then would do a harder 10 to average the 1:53. Played this game for a while until final 10 minutes where I got back on track a bit with a 1:52 pace and then a little quicker at the very end. I wish I would have just went on with the pace I was on until I "had to" slow down. Anyway, happy to get a PB on a longer row, now time to sharpen intervals and 1k/2K.

100m PB - 14.4'' ; -0,1''

I had an extensive health check today including ergometry, so I was not in the mood for a hard interval training. After the WU I decided to try some 100m sprints, the second looked like this:

Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M
0:14.4 100m 1:12.0 938 3527 58 117

It was only 0.1sec faster, but I noticed some good things. My legs weren't really fresh, so my hardest pulls were a bit slower than last 100m PB, but I was much more constant. Last time I had a wobble at stroke 8 or 9 where I slowed down from 1:09 to 1:12 pace, this time all strokes after the first 3 were 1:09 or 1:10. I forgot to put away the carpet, so my erg slipped a bit.
With 100% fresh legs and a stable erg I think I can get close to 14 with some preparation, goal for next year :)
