1min PB - 384m - +3m

Today I had my last fast session before 2k TT on Friday, so I decided to do a fast 1min session at 95% and the plan to start quicker and then slow down at the end. It felt pretty good, the last 15sec were hard, but this way it's a good bit easier than trying to hold the pace for the whole 1min (thanks for this advice Henry :D ).

Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M
1:00.0 384m 1:18.1 734 2826 46

Don't know if it was 95% or 97% but I'm pretty sure a few more meters are possible, hopefully close to 390m. Good confidence boost for Friday

Serious power Martin! Congrats! :)
Are there Austrian national records for 1m? You must be getting close!
...and good luck for your planned 2K test.

Did you see that Phil Clapp set a new 1min World Record last week? 431m :o

Good tip....I'll have to try that next time I'm gasping like a goldfish out of water
Hahaha, as good as a trick as this can be, it won't stop that! You just need to keep reminding yourself you're only at circa 40% of your true capacity at that point. It feels like it's 140% but you have got loads more to give if you really tap into it, albeit it is very hard to do and something I've never got close to doing; Olympic rowers probably are doing just that though

Thank you very much guys!
A bit of pressure is good, this make Friday more mandatory for me, and I don't want to disappoint you all

@ Keith: The 1' works really great for me atm, and the "fly and die" approach is hard but effective.

@ Dino: The Austrian masters (for 36y and older) distance is 1k, just looked at this years result, with my PB I would have been 2nd B)
Haven't seen this, thanks for the link, 431m is unbelieveable! Hopefully Loren Howard will challenge him.

10k in 41:24.0.

39s quicker than my previous PB.

Pace changes every 500m helped quiet the inner chimp (thanks Paul).

Managed this despite the bloke on the SkiErg next to the rower I was using. At first, he was standing so far back on the base that he was nearly pulling the machine over with every pull. Then, evidently deciding that causing the entire gym floor to vibrate every pull wasn't really the way to go, he switched to a front crawl type of stroke, with his arms swinging wildly out to the side. I expected to be punched in the side of the head with every stroke, and it was a minor miracle that we kept missing each other. I think the adrenaline rush probably helped me through the middle portion of the 10k!

Great improvement in PB Max. That's a big chunk to knock off, so your fitness is improving.

I really don't miss the stupidity of gyms for my rowing sessions, especially the horrendous technique on the ergs!!

100m PB - 14,5

After yesterday's 2k failure I decided to try a sprint TT as my legs and back felt great due to 2k tapering, the stomach isn't 100% ok, but no problem for such a short distance.

Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M
0:14.5 100m 1:12.5 918 3460 58
0:14.5 100m 1:12.5 918 3460 58

Never had such a SPM I think, and at stroke 8 or 9 I had a bad pull and almost lost control, so there's definitely a bit more to come, maybe 14,3.
Also had the best LP so far, saw 1070W I think, but have to check that in excel

60' new PB....14,976...+460m

Didn't feel that energised after a day snowboarding yesterday but I had the time for a longer session so thought I'd give 60mins another crack. I really wanted 15km and had a plan to push the last 5mins but it wasn't enough and there wasn't anything left in the tank. Still pleased with effort and only minor chaffing
