Yeah, it was really surprising to be so fast as almost no speed training for a while, I also almost reached my LP PB with 4 strokes in a row with no deadlifting for about a year, crazy

No not direct now, but with a bit of training directed to it. Same for this 100m. Nomatter what direction, but if you do a specific block you always improve.MartinSH4321 wrote: ↑September 17th, 2019, 1:27 amThank you Henry!hjs wrote: ↑September 16th, 2019, 1:43 pmNice! 2KM intervals led to an unofficial PB attempt that knocked 7s off
7:16.2 1:49.0@28
Although it does make me realise that my overall target of sub 7' is a LOOOOOOONNNNNGGGGGG way off.
I'll bask in this minor win for a bit for now.

I agree with Martin, sub 7 isn't as far off as you think. PBing after two 2k intervals isn't easy so you have done really well here. How bad / good did it feel?winniewinser wrote: ↑September 17th, 2019, 6:50 am2KM intervals led to an unofficial PB attempt that knocked 7s off![]()

Mental strength and belief is a powerful force in a sub 7 2k, so start believing and envisaging yourself doing it. I think you can get circa 7:12 right now, it won't be easy but it's within your grasp.

I'd also done a bodycombat session with the little lady last night so didn't go into this feeling like it was going to go like this.......I was able to walk if that a gauge for the effort but my breathing was somewhat strained for a good while after. I think there is more in the tank and this is one step closer to understanding what I might be capable of. It was good to come up against 2km now too as I was starting to have a phobia of that distance.
On the downside, I 'think' I might be be overusing my arms/body vs my legs in the drive. Not sure I am brave enough for a video yet so I'll do some self assessment.

I used to have the same issue. I found low rates and alternating a dominant leg in the drive really helped. You still use both legs, but there is a definite dominance of one or other leg, and I did left, right, both, repeat.winniewinser wrote: ↑September 17th, 2019, 11:27 am

This gave me a better mind connection with my legs and got me used to really pushing, rather than pulling, in the drive. If your suspicion is based on not having much lactic build up in your legs, I still don't get loads of it so it might just be your physiology is better at clearing it.

My legs do feel worked but I was still walking afterwards. I feel aches in my shoulders and back a bit and have been told I pivot my body too early.... probably initiating the catch with that movement.Dangerscouse wrote: ↑September 17th, 2019, 2:31 pmI used to have the same issue. Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
when i first started on the erg many many years ago ( the first time) i pretty much muscled it with my arms mainly. when i got back to the erg a couple of years ago i started that way then as DS says i started to do single leg pushing to make myself aware of the leg work. started adding like 5 pushes left, 5 pushes right, then 5 with both and repeat for a short session. as above its just being more dominant with the single leg not actually doing single leg drive. tends to break up a session and its quite interesting seeing the power increase when concentrating on leg works.Dangerscouse wrote: ↑September 17th, 2019, 2:31 pmI used to have the same issue.
