Wow! Sub 6:20 is a superb milestone to break. You deserve this too with all of your hard work.

1k PB - 3:05,9 :D

Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M
3:05.9 1,000m 1:32.9 436 1799 33
0:18.3 100m 1:31.4 457 1872 33

0:18.8 400m 1:34.0 421 1750 32
0:18.8 500m 1:34.0 421 1750 32

0:18.1 1,000m 1:30.5 472 1925 40

It was a good effort, but I definitely have more in me, it hurt at the end, but I didn't feel like falling off the erg like last time. The middle (100-700) is doable with 1:33,5, maybe a bit below, sub 3:05 next time!
If you're not hammering the edges of a HD on a 1k you're not going fast enough :wink:

With that last 200m you have got sub 3 in you in the near future, you just need to really believe. Really solid PB regardless Martin.

Good job Martin! Paced pretty good but you could probably take it all a little lower to go even faster - but you and Andrew need to stay away from my sub 3:00 :mrgreen:

Just kidding - I am loving seeing all these PBs lately, its a fun journey when you are improving like you are and doing impressive times. You have been training hard and you just keep getting better - funny how that works huh?
:lol: no threat from my side atm, but I can't speak for Andrew! With his current 2k PB he's capable of sub 3:00 for sure, but, as far as I can remember, you did sub 3:00 twice, once after a CF session, so maybe you'll give it a try too :wink:
I'm very pleased to hear that, thank you! I really found a training schedule that fits me almost perfectly, with a lot of help and encouragement from you guys here in this forum, and this pays off with great progression and nice PBs, of course still newbie gains too. I remember when you nailed down your 2k and 1k PBs, always great to see ergers improve and catch their goals. Unfortunately, the better you get, the harder it gets to improve :)

Yeah, if I remember right your 1k PB was your only TT and a classic fly and die, I'm sure you'll beat my time with a better paced attempt!

My 2k PB is from April, of course I expect to be a good bit faster, hopefully close to 6:40. The 2k is my most feared distance where I put a lot of pressure on myself, so I want the frame conditions to be as good as possible. Atm it's too hot here in Austria, so I'll wait till september to give it a try.

Would be tough to not break 6.40 I think, but you relative much faster than fit, that will never change, a thing like that law will never suit you. 500 and 1k for most, don,t suit that law, much to big of anaerobic aspect.

I wish I could be as optimistic as you! :lol: Maybe I need 2 tries, a conservative one to convince myself I'm fast enough and one to go for sub 6:40...
Yeah you're right, this law never suited to me.
For me, the best predictor is to look at improvements at other distances and my UT2 watts.
So, I compare my march/april results with current PBs:
UT2 march-august: 160W --> 180W --> ca. +10%
1k march-august: 411W --> 436W --> ca. +6%
30min april-august: 234W --> 248W --> ca. +6%

+6% for 2k would be: 6:39 :D Henry, I think you're right as always! :wink:

I actually did sub 3:00 the last 4 times I tried a 1K TT - one at a comp, 2 at home and 1 at gym after a CF workout. All right at 2:59.8/2:59.9, just under 3:00, that seems to be my all out effort max - that said I haven't done one for several months and I would hesitant to do one as I haven't trained my anerobic much outside of CF and a few quick challenges (CTC, 500m, 1minute). I plan to start doing some good interval sessions starting this week, then I will go after some 1K and 2K times.
56 yo, 6'3" 205# PBs (all since turning 50):
1 min - 376m, 500m - 1:21.3, 1K - 2:57.2, 4 min - 1305m, 2K - 6:27.8, 5K - 17:23, 30 min - 8444m, 10K - 35:54, 60 min - 16110, HM - 1:19:19, FM - 2:45:41

+6% for 2k would be: 6:39 :D Henry, I think you're right as always! :wink:
Certainly not always :wink:

Non of your rows lately is on the edge, thats why I think that sub 6.40 is doable. You need to stay around 141/42 as basepace, plus the start and a fast last 100.

UT2 march-august: 160W --> 180W --> ca. +10%
1k march-august: 411W --> 436W --> ca. +6%
30min april-august: 234W --> 248W --> ca. +6%

+6% for 2k would be: 6:39 :D Henry, I think you're right as always! :wink:

OK, but at least all your recommendations, advises and valuations regarding my training were correct and helpful :wink:
Yeah, I think so too, for sub 6:40 my basepace shouldn't be much above 1:41, otherwise I won't regain the lost time.
