Are you sure you're 52 and not 32?!?!?! This is a very envious result Andrew. You've got me tempted to give my PB another tickle, but I won't get close to this.Andrew Shuck wrote: ↑June 27th, 2019, 5:27 amOk that's enough talk about the weather..

@ Martin, Keith & Stu,
Many thanks, i surprise myself sometimes. I didn't realise how doggedly determined i can be. The pain markers were 36-48 min in, when doubts tried to derail me.I'm fitter now than when i was 32 ? I think i was still around 22stone back then.I'm not going to compare myself with the really quick guys (17000mtrs) though. Thanks again.

Told you before, you are far beyond average talented, you still make pretty rapid progress on not overly much training. Last years 2k was after a relative short trainingblock. Keep the focus, you have more to come!Andrew Shuck wrote: ↑June 27th, 2019, 10:58 am@ Martin, Keith & Stu,

That's where it really bites for me as well, 40ish mins in to a long row if I'm really pushing hard.Andrew Shuck wrote: ↑June 27th, 2019, 10:58 amThe pain markers were 36-48 min in, when doubts tried to derail me.I'm fitter now than when i was 32 ? Yeah, breaking 17km is a really massive effort but 16.5k is also a very good result so don't downplay what you have done.

One of the great things about the erg I think is that even when you have done something that seems really special there is always someone faster ahead of you setting a goal to aspire to (unless your name is maybe TJ Oesterling or Ollie Zeidler). Like Henry I reckon you still have some serious Blue Sky Andrew.Andrew Shuck wrote: ↑June 27th, 2019, 10:58 amI'm fitter now than when i was 32 ? Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
I'm a little late, but saw this thread and decided to post my recent achievement with the 2019 summer solstice challenge.
I have a history in triathlons, so the HM didn't really scare me, and I previously been doing some work on the rower due to crossfit. Got my Erg in april 2019, and really started doing solid workouts starting in june. After hearing about the challenge, I decided to give it a shot.
I wanted to keep a 2:20 pace for a time of 1:38:00.00, and I was really close to that.

No rugby game today so thought i would give a 2k pb a go. Previous PB in feb. 6.45.0
2k. 6:43.1
500 1:39.2
1000. 1:41.2
1500. 1:41.4

Hadnt tried in a while. Thought 640 was possible, but pacing was a big stab in the dark. Also. This was a midday row on a fullish stomach, very different to my empty stomach morning usual.
Breathing was harder with the full stomach.
Still. Happy enough.

I know from experience it's a horrible feeling to row with a seemingly full stomach as I almost always row first thing in the morning like you. As well as affecting your breathing you'll be concentrating on it too much when you need to focus on positive thoughtsJimS wrote: ↑June 29th, 2019, 2:09 amNo rugby game today so thought i would give a 2k pb a go. Two seconds faster is a great improvement and with more training and an empty stomach you'll defo go faster
