New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
New PB's over the last two weeks:
1K : first ever, 03.36.9
2K : 7.57.9 -> 7.42.4
6K : 26.23 -> 25.39
10K: 44.26 -> 43.24
Still room for improvement; I actually quit my 2K attempt after 1300 meters, but picked it back up again after 2 or three seconds. The 6K and 10K are done with continuous intervals of 1K easy / 1K hard (which helps me stay motivated).

After two and a half years of erging, I finally was able to break a 7:00 2k
with a 6:59.2! I felt I was peaking a little bit lately, so I decided I was
going to try once a week until I did it or until I stopped improving.
My times over the last month were:
6/27 - 7:05.2
7/11 - 7:02.3 PB
7/18 - 7:01.2 PB
7/25 - 6:59.2 PB
I'm really happy!

With 83 looming up in less than 2 months, I didn’t feel that my chance for any new PBs was much good, but I have been training for a marathon for a couple of months now and I finally decided to bite the bullet and managed to knock 3:00.1 off my previous best. I have done only three total:
3/13/2006: 03:18:52.3 as a LWT
4/29/2007: 03:20:41.2 as a HWT
Today, 7/29/2007: 03:15:52.2. Weight class? Hell, I don’t know. I weighed in before at 166# and was down to 161# after, even with a drink in the middle. I’ll call it HWT, since the weigh-in before a time trial is the one that counts, and I need to use HWT for the nonathlon because it has to be either all one or the other and I know that some of my events are at over the weight. Note: I no longer try to “make weight.” It is not healthy in my opinion.
I think that this qualifies as a WR at either weight, but the verification process was somehow buggered up, so I didn’t get the “V.” I don’t know that it matters much anyway. As far as I can tell from the records (2002-2008), there was only one other octogenarian crazy enough to do one.

Hey, I have one!
14,537m in 60'.
Not a great time....34th or 35th in the rankings. But I was just pleased that I was able to maintain the discipline to keep the stroke rate down and the power up over the last ten minutes.
I've been erging for exactly two months and I am surprised at how the SPM has come down and the distance has gone up!
Unfortunately, I seem to be completely devoid of fast twitch muscles so I don't even attempt the shorter distances yet!

That's impressive progress in 6 weeks! Not good for my confidence though, I've been struggling towards a 20 minute 5K for 4 months now....alexthecheese wrote:HI I'm new here, but been rowing about a 6 weeks or so.
My times have gone from:
2k: 9:42 - 7:19.8
5k: 19:45 - 19:20.6
I've only done a few 5k's but am looking to get my times down. Only thing is my left wrist kills a bit after a few k which is a little disconcerting.

New 2k PB
I'm new to the forum. I just completed my novice year at The University of Puget Sound. My 2k on April 10 was 7:05.7. After training a lot this summer, I decided to retake the test. Today I rowed a 6:58.4, for a 7.3 second improvement!
