New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Just dropped my 2K PB for the second time in 3 days. Was 7:59 last week, then 7:50 on Saturday, now 7:43 this evening. Very happy with that as it was at r21 with a bit in the tank at the end!

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
21? You can,t call that a pb, rating should be 30 of not higher. Right now you could already pull sub 7.20 if you rate up. Think you are sub7 in 3 months.
Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
I get the point but when I rate up everything goes wrong, breathing, drive length, splits don’t improve. Yesterday I did 6k at 1k intervals r20-30, and at r28+ I was all over the place and the splits got worse.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Like I've suggested.... 7:10 within 6 months, likely less because of your height.Thanks. Yup I think 7:30 will be in the crosshairs in the next 3 weeks
With where you are currently at... give these routines a try...
A workout that won't knock you out the first time you try it
- 6 x 750m/3:00r @ 2:02 or better
A harder workout that will help build stamina for the 2K
- 5 x 750m/1:00r @ 1:58 or better
Male, 48, 6ft / 240 lbs, 183cm / 108 kg / Started erging in Jan 2017

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Seeing Boomer improving his 2 k I thought about giving it a try. I think I have tested it like 2-3 times in a year. Done like 17 FMs but just a couple of 2 ks attempts in a year. Go figure how much I dislike those . I suffer rowing below 2:00/500 :__(
Last attempt (7-8 months ago?)I did something like 7:3X. Yesterday I went for 7:28 which I guess is my PB.
1:47,1:50,1:56 and 1:53 were my splits at around 25-24 SPM.
I did it at 16:00 PM without having lunch, after 3 weeks or so of going back at lifting (when I lift i lose time on the erg) and after another 7:45 or so aproach. I'll just edit the post if I cand find more excuses:P. Maybe I should try these more often, or maybe I'll just skip them for another 6 months ^_^

Great going Neo. Try and do some 5k and 6k sessions to get you slightly less scared of 2ks. Only doing 2ks will get you used to them.

Improved my 10km record by 45s, only my third time at this distance. Very pleased with a 40.20.7. Setting of 5 , and generally around 22spm. Really concentrated upon my breathing which helped a lot.
I may be able to break 40min . I've never rowed more than this , and I'm in my first 3 months of rowing (55 yrs hvwght)

Sub 40 next! A good milestone. Try to rate up a bit - 22 spm is very low.thewagster wrote: ↑August 24th, 2018, 5:52 amImproved my 10km record by 45s, only my third time at this distance. I agree with this. Try and build up to 25spm. Don't do it too quickly as it will probably be tough to start with but going sub 40 on a 10k will be easier if you stroke faster.Gammmmo wrote: ↑August 24th, 2018, 5:59 amSub 40 next! Well done though that's really good progress after only three months. 10k seems a really long distance until you get used to it. Keep on pushing

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
So its been a while since my last post, very lazy summer months, almost entire month with no rowing, so got back to it 11th Aug i did a couple of 10k then a couple of 10m, nothing during this week so back to another 10m this morning, shaved 40s of my PB, my thinking is I should be able to maintain the 1.52 pace that i have done on the 6 and 10k but i guess thats a bit optimistic at the mo with so little training involved....something to aim to
Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M
1:03:43.8 16,093m 1:58.8 209 1017 30
12:44.8 3,300m 1:55.8 225 1073 29
12:56.1 6,600m 1:57.5 215 1040 30
13:03.9 9,900m 1:58.7 209 1018 31
13:20.9 13,200m 2:01.3 196 973 31
11:38.2 16,093m 2:00.6 199 985 31
And with a birthday coming up I guess I need to reset all my times under a new age bracket..........

Finally a piece I am completely happy with: 5K 17:44.2 (1:46.4).
A cold front moved in (17C). Felt lousy during warmup to the point I was going to
cancel the attempt. Shows that this is often deceptive.

Solid session. You are close enough to sub 17:30 to give it a go now. Well done on this though especially as you came so close to not even trying.
