Not a PB (a bit faster some weeks back in colder air but a 60+ PB).
Excellent row for a 60+. Where does that put you in the rankings?
Looks like top! HWT though....phew!
(seriously good row for anyone - let alone a 60+ year old - hats off!!)

Thanks to a lot of good advice I receive on here I have been setting some good PRs including a 6:39.5 2K yesterday and an 15719 for the hour row last week (first ever time doing a 60 minute row). Going to test some other distances soon.
56 yo, 6'3" 205# PBs (all since turning 50):
1 min - 376m, 500m - 1:21.3, 1K - 2:57.2, 4 min - 1305m, 2K - 6:27.8, 5K - 17:23, 30 min - 8444m, 10K - 35:54, 60 min - 16110, HM - 1:19:19, FM - 2:45:41

It's a pleasure seeing people like you Keith improving from all of our comments. Small tweaks much a big difference and we have made the mistakes so you don't have to!!
And let's not forget if it wasn't for your hard work and dedication you wouldn't row that fast. We can advise but you put it into practice and keep pulling when all you want to do is walk away

Some great posts here to keep me motivated so when I went to workout this morning and it was only 13c/55f so I decided after a warm up to see if I could crack 8,000 in 30 minutes. Went out a little too hard unfortunately and wanted to stop at about 20/21 minutes but slowed down instead and then picked up the pace to end up with new PB at 7,910 metres and close to barf. I think with better pacing 8,000 is within reach, maybe.

@Keith - well done, sub 6:40! Envious
@jimmy - well done to you too, cracking 8000m will come and is a nice round milestone. Keep at it.

It sounds like 8km will be within reach soon. How fast did you start off at and how much did you slow down and for how long? If you were nauseous you clearly pushed it hard. Well done on the PB

@jimmy - try experimenting with a faster pace at 6km, and eventually try to hang on.

I was going to go for a totally even split, not sure why, and start out making sure I was hitting 1:52.5 but got caught out by the feeling okay demons. I really think I should have started 1:53.0-1:53.5 and then increased each split.
I slowed down a lot but glad i didn't stop. I feel like I didn't absolutely have to slow down, it's just that it was before work and didn't want to totally kill myself before that (or maybe this is a post-hoc rationalisation). Anyway, see below for the actual stats.

It looks to me like your 'inner chimp' got the better of you. Have a search for Dr Steve Peters's book The Inner Chimp. There's a summary PDF on the web too.
When it fails for me it's a common excuse 'Be careful, I'm going out tonight' 'My back is aggravated' etc etc
You probably could have rowed through it but I maybe not. Next time be prepared for the creeping doubts as they will defo come. Manage the voice don't fight him. You almost did it this time, remember that and build on it next time

Thanks. Will go hunting for my inner chimp (my outer chimp is another story).

Hahaha, sorry it's actually called The Chimp Paradox not the Inner Chimp
