How do you determine the stroke length? Is it shown on the pm5?

1 min pb. 5 more meters today. A bit more fly&die today, start at 1:17 finish at 1:21.
Relatively low stroke rate for me as well, the plan is to get to 70spm with max df.

Would straps help to keep that from happening?

10k in 43:51 @2:11.5 24spm. Knocks 15s off my previous best. Now I'm "only" 6:14 behind Rod

.
Decided on a whim to finally get a time more or less matching my 5k (21:03 is about equivalent to 43:XX, IMHO). So I set the paceboat to 2:12. Went very smoothly: 2k rates varied between 2:11.1 and 2:11.9. Rate increased from 23 to 25.

The handle slipping is internally in the machine, feels like the rope is snapping. Not sure what causes it.
First time I experience it. My machine has run only 830k.

Decided to try for a 5k PB this morning after lots of SS in previous weeks. It seems I am getting a bit fitter as I took about 13 seconds off previous PB and managed 18:34.1 this morning.
I started cautiously because I wasn't sure exactly what shape I was in (been feeling tired, sluggish, etc) but apparently my body is okay so kept going and upped the pace in second half because I felt good. This was tough but not brutal so hopefully I can have another crack at it in the coming months. Short-ish term goal is to get 8k in 30 minutes so this is a step in the right direction. But I am enjoying it a lot more now that I'm sat at a computer!
Felt good going fast after all those slow metres but I think the slow metres are paying off.

Yikes. I hope you can have that resolved.

Well done mate. Slow metres do serve a great purpose. You probably do have a bit more to give but your HR looks high, or is that normal for you?

Thanks a lot. HR is pretty normal for me. Even at really slow pace, not much effort (e.g. 2:15 pace, r22) I'm on about 130bpm. Resting is about 46bpm. I've noticed that it's higher than many others who post stats here. I was thinking I was way off 8k in 30 minute pace but now I think it's not too far away from me - just need to find a bit more in the tank.
RayOfSunshine - thanks a lot. Enjoyed it.

Don't worry about HR. I have seen very very good ergers who go over 200 and some equally as good and they don't go above 165ish at the same sort of intensity. It's very subjective and doesn't mean anything other than that is your HR range.

First row in the rankings aged 60: 6K 21:41.9.
Not a PB (a bit faster some weeks back in colder air but a 60+ PB).
The heat wave started exactly on my birthday giving me no chance to row anything.
So I started monitoring the weather report only to find out that it is random (simulation probably runs on a vintage Mac). Finally I got a 2 day window but was a bit tired (no rest days).
It still too warm but will get much warmer tomorrow.
All in all perfectly executed row except for the first couple of strokes only a handful 1:50s and even fewer 1:47s. Slightly nauseous at halfway point (a good sign the pace is at the limit), final split 1:48.5.
Next two weeks is supposed to be very hot (if we can believe the weather report). Will take it easy and wait for the next cold spell.

Excellent row for a 60+. Where does that put you in the rankings?
