Thanks Dean it is a good try! - I guess for me (up to now of course) a PB has always been an "all time" thing rather than a age group PB but I will now have to officially reset my goals to 65+ bests.bisqeet wrote:i think you are seeing it wrong. Every candle is a new age group and therefore you are able to set a new pb in that age group.

@JimG, sorry to hear that about your back. Dangerspouse had disc replacement surgery almost two years ago after years of suffering from a degenerated disc so I sort of know what you're going through if only slightly.
Rest and take it easy your health is far more important.

Re: Targets 2018
Happy new year everyone.
Have had my C2 for nearly 3 years now. Just over 4 million meters on it (all mine ). No issues, at all, with it, thus far.
Did just over 1.6 million meters in 2017. Gained weight in spite of that. Didn't eat all that well in 2017 and, let's face it, not really faithful to workouts of any type.
So, goals for 2018 are, I suppose, to erg more and to walk more, both on our treadmill and on a nearby mountain / lake trail. When I last lost a lot of weight and got in lots better condition I did it by walking - lots of walking / hiking and by eating from only the edges of the food store (produce (veg & fruit), meats, eggs & some milk), so maybe try to return to that way of living / eating.
Changing subjects, did my traditional 01 Jan erg maintenance. Removed and cleaned the fan screen for the first time ever. Appeared to be quite clean, but vacuumed it anyway. Tightened the monitor arm a bit (so it will stand upright when I want it to) and oiled the chain. Noticed six, count'em, SIX fan-balancing weights / clips, some almost exactly opposite (radial location) others.
Anyway, they say hope springs eternal so I'll enter 2018 with the best of intentions. Wish the best to all of you!

Re: Targets 2018
Happy New Year everyone.
I don't have specific targets apart from one that won't be mentioned....
However one target is I am going to try some new training. My gym run a fitness class which has a specific rowing element. It's not at my local branch so will involve more travel but I will give it a go and see if I can make some gains.

Re: Targets 2018
I'll be happy this year just to get training consistently again. I'll do some testing along the way of course, i think i can get to a certain level within 3-4 months solid work without too much hassle. improving from that will take some doing and will probably require commitment i can't really give till after summer. so for the end of april i'd like to hit:
1k - 3:10
2k - 6:40
5k - 17:50
30r20 - 1:%4 ( preferably 1:52.5)
Nothing too far fetched given my past results. Hardest here for me is probably the 5k. It's a rubbish distance for me comparatively. I've beaten all the other targets either comfortably or rate capped in the past so pretty confident i can find the form again pretty handily.
I also want to get back down to 72-73kg, so 2-3kg loss. Just got a tiny bit of puppy fat I want rid of After uni finishes in May and i've nothing to do but work part time till my rented house lease is up ill probably try focus more on my diet and get into weight training again, i'd like to be a fairly lean 80-82 by the end of the year.
