I notice the arms are bent early in the drive phase and there is a lengthy time at the end of the drive phase when only his arms are pulling on the handle. I don't think he is going to pass the test of those who want to see classic rowing form. Yet, results speak.
He is more or less unbeatable on the erg.
Otw is an other matter, he has trouble getting into a good boat in Denmark. re raced the single in London and did not make the final there, he bulked up to around 80 kg for that. Now back to lightweight again.
His racing is not his training btw, he certainly does not rate that high always, but his 2k are always high rated. Closed to 40 for the bulk of the row, faster at the start and finish.

Overall he is very fit, also on the static he delivers big numbers.

What's up with his high hands and bent wrists at the end of the drive? I have been trying to keep my hands a bit lower and wrists straight lest I invite carpal tunnel problems. Yes, very interesting that his shins don't even come to vertical most of the time.

I have not been pushing it as hard in the last week and am up to 216,379m total in the month now since I started, steadily encroaching upon that 2:00/500m hour. Personal best one hour now stands at 14,645m: 2:02.9/500m pace; drag 130; 25 SPM; 77% average HR; recovery 170-35; weight not budging at 262.

Also, my CBreeze finally arrived after its leisurely meander through the Canadian postal system. Loving that!

I think in some respects you have to give people a pass on form for 2K racing. You might say that if their form was better they would have done better. But I wouldn't be too quick to say that. Especially for a veteran, they can sense and see on the monitor what gives them the most bang for the buck. Only one number counts and that is speed for 500m. They have to do it for 6 or 7 mins, that is it. Perhaps for 10K, it would be another story.

Congrats on 2:02+ for an hour. You are definitely in the 2:00 for 5K area. That is where faster rowing comes in. You just get used to a faster pace. Rowing some 1:55 stuff makes 2:00 seem all that much easier. No way can weight not come down with all that you are doing. Has to be a delayed adjustment. Course, rowing does increase appetite.

I do not think you can avoid eating slightly differently to move you weight down. I am 55, 6'4.5'', and was 254 lb, in the middle of November. I limited eating sweets, and eating lighter in the evening. I rowed over 260,000 meters since November. I am now 237lbs.
For years I was about 250 lb, despite running 30 min on weekdays and occasional 1 - 1.5 hour on weekends with my dog. However, I did not change my eating habits, so stayed heavy and only managed to ruin my knees.

Good feedback for OP. A 250 lb man is likely to burn about 100 cals per 1000m. So one can do the math: 10K = 1000 cals or a little less than 1/3 lb (3500 cals = 1 lb). Depending on how much of that is replenished, 10 days of 10K could result in around 3 lbs loss. That math seems pretty consistent with your results.
