Nice one Paul! Sub 22 for 6k is something I'd like to hit, though it might be a while before I do.

Looking at your 5K and 30mins PBs I'd say choose a day to be well rested and just do it...you'll probably get it. Failing that why not do some short 22s to get a feel for the distance and build some confidence...that's what I did but mainly because I've taken my eye off the ball with hard efforts on the erg of late. Cheers...

My current fitness isn't where it was when I did those PBs sadly, otherwise I'd agree. Once it's back to those sorts of levels (or higher) I'm sure it'll come, but I'm taking the long road: building up my aerobic base for a (fairly) long while and working towards the longer distances (first marathon, ideally sub 3 hours, better half marathon, set a proper 60 minutes PB etc.). Towards the end of the year I'll turn my attention back to the shorter distances and hopefully smash a few PBs.

Nice work Paul. Pretty good rating to, and paced nicely, if you don,t feel at least close to a hd you are not really trying.
Extra strenght can be paying off. B)

3x 2K erg, 2Kskierg last night

Last 2K skierg rep was a new PB- 8:38.6. 2:09.6 pace 42spm. I can possibly see breaking 8:30 in the next month or so if done without all the other work.

Excellent! And about time too - that old PB has been a joke (compared to your real level) for a while. And I missed my chance to say "I was better than Dreadfish at one time" .

Cheers Mike. Starting to re-prioritise the erg over weights...hopefully there'll be a few more PBs coming as they've been rather thin on the ground last 12 months! 2K next - not sure I could bear it if I don't put down a mark better than the 6:48.1 I pulled several centuries ago.... :D

Decided to go for my first PB of the new season and managed to shave about 10 seconds off my 5k time, going from 18:58.3 to 18:47.9.

Have been very tired recently so didn't think I'd be able to hold the pace but I tried to be cautious and conservative early on and found that I had enough left in the tank. More pleased with the pacing and effort than the time, but I'm happy enough with it. Think I could go a little faster too, though I do find 5k a tough distance. I think the extra SS metres I've been putting in plus some of the faster PP stuff might be paying off now.

Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M
18:47.9 5,000m 1:52.7 244 1138 25 176
3:48.0 1,000m 1:54.0 236 1112 25 168
3:47.3 2,000m 1:53.6 238 1119 25 172
3:46.2 3,000m 1:53.1 242 1131 25 177
3:46.0 4,000m 1:53.0 243 1134 25 180
3:40.4 5,000m 1:50.2 262 1199 26 184
44 years old - 198cm/6'6" - England

PBs -
1k 3:15.4 (Jun 2020) | 2k 6:51.4 (Feb 2019) | 5k 18:16.9 (Oct 2019) | 30min 8,016m (Apr 2019) | 10k 37:53.6 (May 2019) | 60min 15,254m (Apr 2019) | HM 1:25:38.4 (Apr 2019)

Rowing since March 2017. Real name is Alasdair.
