Congrats on the pb, Paul. Always liked 5k. Easy to make yourself chew nails and still have a fair chance of being conscious after.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
PB as a 61 year old LWT in 1000 m! I pulled a 3:26.5 on a dynamic erg and my previous best was in 2013 at 3:26.9 on a static erg. We can debate how much difference there is between a dynamic and static erg but I do know that in 2013 I was within 0.5 seconds at 1000 m on both ergs and the static erg was a faster time.
I honestly thought I would not see any more PBs. Now I have to try to beat my PB of 7:11 at 2k next weekend. I was injured in January and had to cut way back in training and slowly increased the mileage. So what I am seeing now is really the result of the 2017-2018 erg year training.

Ok then, as newbie to this forum .
A couple of weeks ago I tried a 100 meters, and did 16.8 seconds. Not unhappy with that! But last week I tweaked the parameters: damper at 5 instead of at 3, a couple of half strokes at the start, and most importantly: my daughter to motivate me . It worked a treat: my PB is now 16.3.

Well done Andre. Try the damper at a higher setting, you may, or may not, prefer it.Andre Hilhorst wrote:Ok then, as newbie to this forum .

I started traing seriously in 2010 and it feels good to know that PBs are still possible in my 60s. Well done Andre. It would be a good idea for you to consider moving from thinking about damper setting to drag factor when training and reporting pieces. They can be very different numbers and the damper setting is very different from one machine to another mostly depending how clean it is. There are heaps of threads on this forum that will help you find your sweet spot.Andre Hilhorst wrote:Ok then, as newbie to this forum . Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
That's good advice Lindsay, thank you. I am training on the only erg with a PM5 that my gym has, but I will check out the drag factor. Ergdata gives this erg a DF of 110 at damper 3 which is quite light I guess, but I like it like that. My times are coming down at the same stroke rate, but for the really fast stuff I might need a higher drag factor. My stroke rate was 55 for the 100 meters ...... Thanks!lindsayh wrote:Well done Andre. It would be a good idea for you to consider moving from thinking about damper setting to drag factor when training and reporting pieces. Almost 10 sec improvement on my previous 1K.
Sub 3 minutes was to hard today, less than 4 hours sleep(baby did not want to sleep all night)
Still happy with the result(considering I’m not a sprinter type), 1 sec behind my row pb.
