22 secs off your 5k, that's great!
Well done for the 2k, too!

Added 105 meters to my 30 minute ranking today. 7953, 153.1, r25. Managed a bit of a sprint to bring the last 6' split down to 152 pace. Listening to Ry Cooder's new album. Good stuff.

Keep up the good work Ben. I was at your pace for 2k only about 4 months ago and you are putting in some great effort with your workouts so you will get better fast. Pull hard and don't skip breakfast!

I suppose that I shouldn't really be using the term PB for the 2k, the 30', and the 60', since I was doing these events over a decade ago and there is no way that I can come anywhere the time and distances that I was doing at 70 and 71. However, I did a 13415m 60' piece today and that is 90m better than my previous best 60' this season (as a heavyweight) and 44m better than my best 60' minute last season (as a lightweight).

I was a little disappointed that the 90m increase gave me only 6 additional nonathlon points, but it just gives me a little more incentive to pump out a marathon sometime before the end of the season. I have done almost no erging in the last month, so the main pupose of today's 60' was to get some meters in to build up endurance for the big M. Total for the day, counting my 10' morning wakeup, a 10' warmup, the 60 minute trial, and a 10' cool down was 19583m.

5K - 18:44.1 PB by 8 seconds although that wasn't the intention. In fact it was supposed to be my warm-up. First 500M or so at a 2:00 pace but felt good and kept pulling and brought it in at a 1:52.4 average. Kind of wish I had set the PM to 6000M as would have been a PB at a more traditional OTW distance.

Finally broke 7 today, with a 6:59.2 2k at practice.

Splits went like this:

500m 1:45.9 @ 28
1000m 1:45.7 @ 28
1500m 1:45.4 @ 28
2000m 1:42.3 @ 31

I was shooting for a 6:58, so I am kind of dissapointed I came up 3 tenths of a second short, but oh well. This past year I did a ton of steady state work, and though I've done some transition intervals (3 x 10, 3 x 3500m, 3 x 15); I haven't gotten down to the shorter intervals yet. So with that in mind, I hope to break 6:55, after interval traning, by mid may (when my biggest races are), if I 2k again. It feels good to have come from an 7:54 spring of freshman year, to finally breaking 7. Too bad I could not have done it earlier..
