1.98......

Sub 7 is only the beginning, with this height your rating/drag is fine, you should have a very long stroke, so plenty of time per stroke to put energy in the chain.

Congrats !

Congrats on sub 7' Jimmy. I missed your post somehow. Sub 7' is a great achievement!!!!

I'd be lying if i said i never had an underlying desire to go sub 7' at some point in my erging expeditions.

Decided to do a 30 minute TT today. PB by just under 100m but, more importantly for me, the first time I've gone over 8000m without HDing (last time I went over 8000m I HDed twice).

30:00 - 8120m - 1:50.8 - 25.5

06:00 - 1612m - 1:51.6 - 25
12:00 - 1609m - 1:51.8 - 25
18:00 - 1615m - 1:51.4 - 25
24:00 - 1625m - 1:50.7 - 25
30:00 - 1660m - 1:48.4 - 27

Here's the ErgData graph:

Obviously still quite a sprint in me at the end so I probably have a bit more in me, but I didn't want to risk blowing up on this. Overall very pleased.

Way to go Tom. You are moving into seriously strong territory here. Very impressive!

@Rob and Scott - thanks guys. That piece is one of my least favourite so I'm very pleased with the result.

Fantastic effort Tom. Breaking the mental obstacle of HDing is very important too.

Inspired by Tom I too decided to take on 30', which I too hate.

My previous PB was 7819. Slow next to my other times but for some reason I couldn't crack it...

... until today where I obliterated it by 149m to set a new PB of 7968. Ultimately, this is still 32m off my goal for the season so I shouldn't really be celebrating, but I feel very happy to have made up so many meters towards the magic 8k. I feel that my longer aerobic work is paying off and that 8000 really is in my sights now.

Time Meters Pace SPM HR
30:00.0 7,968m 1:52.9 30 165
3:00.0 798m 1:52.7 29 151
6:00.0 793m 1:53.4 30 155
9:00.0 792m 1:53.6 30 158
12:00.0 792m 1:53.6 30 161
15:00.0 790m 1:53.9 30 164
18:00.0 791m 1:53.7 30 166

Great work Rob! I reckon 8k should fall before the end of the season. You've probably got it in you already, it's just a case of the right day.

It's nice to get concrete confirmation that your aerobic work is paying off isn't it.

Great going Rob. I think that there is quite often a distance that mentally feels a lot harder than it should be and once it's broken you just keep improving as you know it's possible. Breaking 8k won't be long

@Tom @Stu- thanks lads! Certainly felt like I had a little bit more today. And Tom, yes it feels great to be rewarded for all those long SS sessions. It's a big mental hurdle to get over the fact that it doesn't physically feel like UT2/1 work is helping your system at the time you're doing it. Session like today's really help that and, as you say, provide the concrete evidence that we aren't wasting our time on those long rows...
