Dietz does 15k a day...
.......
BTW: Toggle the display over to avg pace, why don't you?

BTW: Doing all that biking is not going to help your sculling. Your weight is fine. Give the super endurance stuff a rest and post a decent performance fully trained at any weight.
There is no competition waiting for you in the 60's lwt ERG standings... You've claimed that yourself here on this thread!
Go Row against Flory, Spousta, Dietz, Meyer, Andersen, and the like on the water... They give you a 'tutorial' alright!... :D ....

As you've said all summer... Your perfect stroke is ready and you are "happy" with it. :D

Have you've given up on predicting your time in the Head of the Grand... :?
Seems that in ranger-world all that matters is the number of strokes a sculler takes per minute :? :? :?
Why not go out a 45 spm?

Anyway: I expect the crowds of sculling enthusiasts will gather by the finish line an exclaim in unison:
"Wow! Did you see that? He pulled it off! He sculled his final ten strokes at 30 spm!!! What a mensch!!!!

Also missing from further ranger comment... An expression of intent to post a 2.5k sculling piece at any rate done to show how fast ONW actually goes these days...

What are you afraid of Rich?
Is getting old & slow so hard??
Is the realization the putting off OTW speed work for way too long finally getting through to you?

We'll miss you at the races.

What a waste! Such a nice boat, too. Never to be raced.. Tis a shame.

Lest I be confused with a 'nay-sayer', let me give you some positive reinforcement.

Consider taking your hard earned erg strength an testing you OTW speed with at least one 90-95% effort every twelve days.
THis is regular training... not sharpening...
I suggest 4 x 750m w/10m easy rowing in between...
Try somewhere between 26 and 32 spm and go at 5k- 3to 4 seconds pace (OTW)

See you it feels... Don't worry about the times...

Every bloody one of you should be embarrassed with this thread. CHRONICALLY EMABARRASSED AT THAT.

This must rank as the most odious thread ever on C2. Some of you ought to know better.....really gentlemen, get a bloody grip.

What a disgrace to the erging/rowing community.

Mate, if you don't like it don't read it, some of us find it entertaining.

To each his own.

I disagree.

At the moment, I think that the biking is the most important thing I do.

Just like I thought that the two hours of sit ups and jumping rope that I did for so many years were the most important things that made it so that I coupd pull a lwt 6:28 on the erg at just shy of 53.

BTW, on my bike rides now, after a deluge of sweat for a hour or so, I start to cool off, even though I am working just as hard.

Interesting.

Steady State.

When this cooling off occurs in my biking, I am into my third hour of exercise.

When I do my rowing OTW, I have already done three hours of exercise.

Why?

Training isn't a race.

I only have 2.5K of open water.

Then I have to turn around.

Again, and again, and again.

I'll be happy to come row with you on the Connecticut.

Stroke for stroke.

In terms of workload, I am doing the equivalent of about 60K a day.

Ultamarathon.

Happy to have you come up and hang out in Door County, WI, for a couple of weeks in the summer, if you would like.

Eating starts at 4 p.m. with happy hour and tapas, salsa, chips, beer, wine, cheese, and bread.

Happy hours flows into dinner which contiinues until 8 p.m.

Yummy.

I get in four hours of exercise before everyone wakes up.

I start about 3 a.m. OTErg.

I am OTW at 5 a.m.

Heck no.

If I rate 26 spm, stroking easily, and kick it in over the last 500m, given good conditions, I should be under 2:10 pace.

I'll go up to Lansing several times between now and the middle of October and time myself over the course.

I don't have any interest in OTW speed work at the moment.

I am still just learning to row.

True.

But if I pull a lwt 6:16 at 60, as I think I will, I can compete against these guys.

Notice that the first American is 6:19.2.
